A Magic fan's opinion here....
I think Woodson is a big limiting factor for your team. Atlanta never could/didnt seem to try to swing the ball to the weak side which would have been their best chance to hit an open man. To me, that falls on the coach. Woodson appears to have been aware of how the Magic operate on offense yet Orlando did as they pleased for the most part. I think a team's defense is in large part something instilled by the coaching staff. The Magic did not play great D the first half of the season, it took a while to round into the kinda form they're playing with now. Very few players on the Magic had a reputation for being defenders but theyve bought into a system that works and bring it every game.
It seems like Woodson just blames it on the players or bad luck that it didnt work, no real accountability. When the coach cant come up with an answer or a system that works I can somewhat understand the players losing that desire to fight. How many times would you run full sprint, headfirst into a brick wall knowing you're gonna get laid out before you started doggin it?
I just find it hard to believe that with the players you all have theres any excuse to get hammered like that, the blame has to go back to the coaching staff.
cliffs: woodson isnt smart, hes admitting he cant do anything else with this team and hoping he can convince everyone its not his fault
