Greg Oden?

Post#1 » by QuantumMacgyver » Tue Jun 1, 2010 3:08 pm

Just out of curiosity, I am wondering what the average take on trading for Oden would be, and what most people feel would be worth trading for him. Could be exactly what the Jazz need, if he could stay on the court.

Portland lols at any notion of trading Oden.

He's a very low-risk, high-reward guy right now. Why would they trade him?

It is too bad we can't try and screw Portland like they tried with Milsap.

I kinda doubt we get him unless Deron is involved.
"Thibs called back and wanted more picks," said Jorge Sedano. "And Pat Riley, literally, I was told, called him a mother-bleeper and hung up the phone."

He hasn't shown much since he was drafted, but he's still very valuable for Portland. I doubt they'll trade him unless there's a really good offer.

I really beg to differ. In the 82 games he's played since he was drafted he's put up 9.4 points, 7.3 rebounds and 1.4 blocks in 22 minutes per game, while shooting about 58% from the field.

His foul rate is high, which is one reason his playing time is sparse, but if the Jazz were getting those numbers from one of their young players, we'd all be jizzing our pants over him.

Of course the elephant in the room here is Oden's injury history. If he can stay healthy he could be the best defensive center in the western conference; hell, he's got a shot to be the best center in the west, period.

He's not Kevin Durant, and he and the Blazers will always take heat for that, but I think his odds of being a great NBA player are still very good.

Interesting tid bit: Odens kneecap broke this year under the weight of his own muscle, not from any contact.

It's really risky, I would be ok with it if we didn't give up millsap or dwill. But Portland is definitely gonna tell us to **** off though.

Oden may be the hardest injury-prone guy to trade in history. He's like a bad stock that you get emotional about....it just keeps going down but you refuse to sell because of all this "potential" it has.

Seriously though, Oden has alot of value because of his youth and height and defensive potential. Wouldnt expect Portland to trade him for anything but reasonable value in return.

I was mostly talking about how many games he's played in since he was drafted.
