Best Fundamental Team of All Time
Which team was the best fundamental team in history? One that relied on a solid system to achieve wins instead of individual talent? Can include college teams I guess...

The championship Knicks of the early 70s. Great talent, but renowned for playing well and playing together.

A handful of Spurs teams.

Re: Best Fundamental Team of All Time
In the recent past, I'm gunna go with the 05 spurs
You had Tony Parker who could dribble well, pass well, and hit the running floater very effectively. Nothing in his game was really "spectacular" besides his athleticism. Despite being a scoring PG, this was probably the year he established himself as just that, rather than a ball-handling combo guard.
Then you had Ginobili, who could handle the ball, go either way with the ball, finish with either hand, wonderful midrange skills, excellent shooter. His defensive fundamentals were very reliable too. At the 2-guard, his decision making on the pick n roll is excellent, as well.
Bruce Bowen wasn't a great offensive player but his defense was as fundamental as it got, never relying on gambling or athletic superiority to bail him out. He could also do basics like cut, hit 3s, and kick people in the face.
with the exception of the form of his jumper/FT storoke, Tim Duncan's Mr Fundamental for a reason. Excellent face-up skills for his size, wonderful use of the mid-range bank shot, superb passer, elite footwork, and that's not even getting into his ever-reliable array of post-moves to face any situation. Can't forget the fact that defensively, he was always at the right place at the right time, rebounding and blocking as well as it got.
Finally you had Rasho Nesterovic.. great defensive fundamentals, great passer, reliable mid-range jump shooter, and solid footwork.
Of course teams like 86 Celtics etc are probably better at fundamentals, but they've also got some unorthodoxities like McHale's post moves
