I wonder if NJN was at #2 if they would take Favors. If I were them, I would - no sense in getting cute and selecting Turner if a player with higher upside (though not as NBA-ready) were available and fit your needs better.
I have no clue what Philadelphia should do, however... their roster is kind of a mess.

Funny how he just moves them around arbitrarily without any possible reason to do. How can he wake up one morning at this point in the process and just now think Favors is a better prospect? He makes me miss Mel Kiper. I wish we had an ESPN NBA insider that did his own scouting and stuck to his guns like Mel does.

This was post-measurements where Turner measured out relatively average in terms of length whereas Favors measured out far better than guys like Horford and Okafor who see nearly full-time minutes at C. I think the move was warranted - hell, I did the same thing because I had been on the fence for a while.

I think for a while now that Favors or Cousins are the better choice for Philly.

They've got Iguodala, they don't need his clone in Turner. What they need is a big to build their team around. Lets see which bigs they've got:
Brand? Old, overpayed, not very productive.
Dalembert? I actually like Dalembert but he's already 29 and lets be honest he won't be resigned by Philly next season. At least I don't see it right now because they are far away from contending and Dalembert keeps them in the level of mediocrity even further. If they continue running their current team they'll be a late lottery team for a while.
Thad Young? Tweener, not the big you build your team around.
Speights? Has got some talent but I don't see him being a starter on a playoff team.

IMO they should be taking Favors. Favors/Holiday could form a solid duo for the future. They could look to acquire a wing prospect by trading for a mid 1st.

Turner will be a good shooter in time. It's very presumptive to say he's an Iguodala clone. Iggy jsut has those giant Rondo arms/hands.

Turner has the potential to be better than Iguodala but IMO it would be better to draft a similar talented player in Favors at an actual position of need.

Ford has liked Favors over Turner for a while now especially after measurements
He is even still insisting that Phili should take Favors #2 but wont because turners pegged as the consensus #2.

Phili needs a SG more than anything. They like Iggy at SF and prefer Thad at PF.

Disagree. Philly's bigs are terrible. Cousins would be the bet fit for them, imo.

Word on the Phili board is that they are targeting a center in the late lottery by trading Thad/Williams -- perhaps Aldrich.
I think every team in the NBA would take Turner over Cousins, regardless of need.

Not saying they shouldn't take ET. Just refuting their biggest need is sg.

Dalembert vs. Willie Green and Lou Williams? I don't know, I'd take Dally for now.
EDIT: If you were to argue that "but Iggy can play SF", then I would also say Dally at C > either Green or Williams at SG, or Kapono or Thad starting at SF.

Indiana would probably be interested in that deal.

Problem is that Dally has a bad BBIQ, limited offensive output, and is in the last year of his contract (surely they're not going to resign him). A talented, cheap, offensively gifted big is a very sore need for them.

Brand, Speights, and Smith are all offensive bigs. With Turner and Iggy on the wings, all they will need in addition to their PFs is a defensive presence, which Dally provides. I don't see why they wouldn't be interested in resigning him to a reasonable contract. If not, they can worry about it next year after a year with Collins. For now, he's on the roster getting paid $13M and they don't have a second adequate wing starter.
The contrary position is to bring in Cousins or Favors for a low post presence, but once again not have the shooters necessary to stretch the floor.

But thats the knock against Turner, not an elite shooter, too similar to Iggy.
And Brand and Speights aren't that great either.

Hard to project Turner at this time not being a good shooter for his career. FWIW, philly's fans are split on this issue too, but the majority seem to side with SG being a greater need. From SF76, the resident insider, the 7ers front office was targeting Turner prior to the lottery when they were #6. Suggests to me that SG was their top priority, and at least in my estimation, rightfully so.

Does it really matter at this point whether they have shooters or not? They should be riding the rebuilding road because their current core won't get them anywhere.

Dalembert won't be resigned because he'll get too much $ by a team that needs a defensive minded big. (OKC for example)
The Sixers don't really have a starting frontcourt after this season with Dalembert leaving, Brand declining, Speights not being a starting caliber PF and I can't see Young being a full time starter PF either.
Maybe we just differ on how the Sixers should rebuild or the potential of their bigs (Speights and Young).

Re: Just Chad Ford, but Turner's at #3 now
I think it's a tough call for them. Bigs are usually easier to build around but I don't think they can pass on Turner as the consensus #2, which is sad because I think he'll end up as the 4th best player from this draft.
