MN / NO / DET blockbusterish

Post#1 » by Devilzsidewalk » Thu Jun 24, 2010 3:36 pm

MN out #4/Rubio/Large Al/Pekovic/#16
MN in: CP3!/Maxiell

NO out: Paul/Okafor/West/#11 pick/Posey
NO in: #4 pick (Cousins)/Big Al/Ricky Rubio/Rip Hamilton/Tayshaun Prince/#7 pick

DET out: Prince/Rip/Maxiell/7
DET in: West/Okafor/Posey/11

MN signs a big name free agent and trades Flynn for Indy's #10

MN:
CP3/Sessions
X Henry (at 10)/Ellington
GAY/D James (at 23)
Love/Maxiell
Darko/Hollins (the new T Chandler)

Crawfish central:

New Orleans goes 9 deep with the best frontcourt scoring in the NBA, shooters, some defense, and nice PG duo:

Rubio/Collison
Rip/Thornton
Prince/Peja
Big Al/Pekovic
Cousins/Pekovic

Detroit gets an allstar PF and overpaid center, but way more useful to them than Rip, only drop 4 spots in the draft:

Stuckey/Bynum
Gordon/George
Posey/Jerebko/Daye
West/Villanueva
Okafor/Wilcox

Not a huge fan of this trade. I love CP3, but longterm I think our prospects are better with Rubio/Flynn plus the fruits of our assets to build the team for the future.

New Orleans isn't going to take on salary. It would have to be something like...

Min gets Okafor, Paul, Posey
Det gets Jefferson
NO gets Prince, Gomes, 7, and Rubio

NO cuts costs dumping 3 guaranteed contracts, voiding Gomes, and getting Prince's expiring. They'd pick up the 7th pick and have a PG situation of Collison/Rubio (similar to our current Flynn/Rubio situation).

Detroit would basically still just be doing the Al for Prince and 7 trade.

Not sure if it quite matches financially, but its close. If we can afford to take on Paul then Prince-Al-Okafor have similar contracts as do Posey and Gomes. Might need a little tinkering here or there, but I can't imagine CP3 coming to sota in a deal that doesn't at least resemble something like this.

Terrible trade.

Trade Jefferson, Rubio, Pekovic, #4, #16 for Chris Paul?

You should be ashamed for posting that.

I believe we'd have ahard time convincing Chris Paul to want to stay here, unless we were able to pull off a BOS-like reversal.

I was thinking of something like Flynn for 10/Rush, packaging 4 + 10 + cap space for Paul. Not sure how much cap we can offer (can we just absorb Paul's contract?) but this would essentially replace Flynn with Paul and still have 16 to try and plug a hole on the wing.

I kinda like itit as it could make us a nice FA destination with Paul. It's pretty steep and a gamble without a FA to sign on. Where does 16 go?
