Beasily for free???

Post#1 » by HolyToledo » Tue Jun 29, 2010 11:17 pm

The Jazz can get Beasily for the Harpring trade exception. In essence, Beasily for free which should be considered by the Jazz. How bad is this guy that no one in the league wants to pay him a reasonable contract and get him for free? Miami wants to trade him for salary cap room....thats it. The Jazz could get them to throw their 2011 number one pick as well.

Maybe even sign and trade Boozer for Beasily and Haslem (sign and trade/or future #1 pick). Sign and trade because the Jazz can sign Boozer to a 6 year contract then trade him to Miami but if signs directly with Miami then he can only sign a 5 year contract.

I would get him hoping for the best but they would need to throw in a #1 pick. He is a nut, but didnt the Lakers just win a chamionship with a nut (Artest) on their team. If Boozer is gone, AK-47 goes to the bench to back-up both forward postions with Millsap to starting lineup. The Jazz lineup would be as follows:

PG DWILL Price Gaines
SG Miles Matthews Hayward
C Memo Haslem Kosta Fess
PF Millsap AK-47 Kosta
SF Beasily Ak-47 Hayward

predicted records 45-50 wins...Sloan and Beasily would be interesting and either be a good or bad thing but worth the risk.
Top 4 seed in the West!!! Guaranteed!!!

I was thinking we'd make a run for Anthony with our MLE. But, both of us want to rip off Miami.

I don't think we'd want Beasley. Just not our cup of tea.

Well being that I assume youre not talkin about Melo, Im going to just say that the other Anthony sucks and I cant believe you would take him over Beasley, or Beasily as HT calls him.

This type of move is something that the Jazz have never done, taking a flier on a guy who could either turn out to be an all-star, or could end up being out of the league all together in a matter of a few years. I, for one, have been lulled to sleep with their conservative, boring approach to team building and would love to see something like this happen, especially for such a small price. If Miami really will do this, I cant believe we are even debating it.

I have to agree. Why not take a flyer on a guy that may take off. If not its worth the risk. KOC grow a sack and take a chance on SOMETHING THAT MAY HAVE A HUGE UPSIDE WITH LITTLE RISK OF HURTING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Beasley does not have a single NBA-level skill and his intangibles are awful.

While we may think we are smarter than one GM, do we think we are smarter than 30?

Plus he doesn't fill any of our team needs.

One of the dumbest, most unfounded comments Ive ever read on here. Really?? Youre claiming he doesnt havae ONE skill that is on par with NBA players? What a foolish statement....

We dont need any power forwards, especially one that can score, and ESPECIALLY with Boozer leaving and Memo out?? Not to mention that we'd be getting him for nothing.

What can he do well? He can't back down small forwards, he can't beat power forwards off the dribble, he's a poor finisher, inconsistent shooter, doesn't play defense, doesn't rebound. He doesn't really seem to have any niche in the NBA. Sort of like a slightly better version of Yi.

It's not my money so I wouldn't be opposed to it, but I wouldn't get too excited.

The guy averaged 14 points and over 5 boards in just 24 minutes a game, on 47% shooting (40% from 3). Now those numbers dont blow you away, but theyre obviously above average in this league and you said he had not one NBA level skill. Again your statement was completely unfounded, and stupid.

He IS good at getting tats and smoking weed and having mental breakdowns though.

He's not a PF. that's the thing. He's a tweener. His only NBA skill is hitting medium range jumpshots, of which he is actually very good.

You may be right, but wouldnt you agree that in college he showed much more than what we have seen so far? Isnt it possible that in a system like ours, that favors the PF, that he may blossom into what we saw in college? Im not convinced he would blossom either, Im just saying that for basically nothing, the reward would DEFINITELY be worth the risk.

It's an interesting idea, maybe if we could take him on for just a couple of years. I agree, he has great potential still, and may just need a PG like DWill to help him get there. He won't help us at all against the Fakers. He has mental and immature issues (seriously, you are a professional athlete and you can't stop smoking weed? Talk about willpower...), and pretty much gave up on his team in the playoffs (though they gave up on him too). He is an NBA enigma, either a GM jackpot, or a fans worst enemy. I don't see much in between with this guy, due to his own limitations he puts on himself.

The Jazz took similiar gambles in the past on players Chris Morris and Donyell Marshall. Marshall turned out ok but Morris was simply a nut that was sort of useful.

The kid needs direction, and he needs to get away from the South Beach atmosphere. It's a low risk pick up considering the Jazz only need to hold on to him for a year, and if they don't like him they don't pick up his option and let him go. If he does improve and start to live up to the potential he has, the Jazz look great, and have a stud for a very good price.

I'd definitely do it.

I'd do it. Beasley has the skill to be a very good player, people are down on him and he needs a change in scenery. I thinks he's a worthy gamble.

This.

Imagine him as a stretch four or a post-up small forward like Carmelo Anthony in Utah's system.

Imagine having a guy who can force Melo and Durant to play defense 8 times a year.

Return to Utah Jazz
