Al Jefferson

Post#1 » by Teens On Acid » Thu Jul 1, 2010 12:32 pm

surely everyone has seen the WT by now...
what are your thoughts on the rumor guys?
would he fit the system? is he big enough?

i thought his confidence took a massive hit when he was traded from Boston.
he was just starting to come into his game there, then it's taken away, poor fellow has to adjust, aaand doesn't really do the best at it. but anyway, we all know he can be a beast. CAN BE, being the key... i'd like to see him teamed with Melo, Ty and Aflalo. i think that's an interesting 4 to start with.

if we were to trade for him, i see it as addition by subtraction, much like the Camby and AI trades. Kenyon, Nene, JR i can live without. (would like to keep Billups for veteran calls from refs). They're our biggest chips. MAYBE someone wants Bird, but I doubt it, plus i'd rather keep him on the bench.

what do you guys think?

lol wut? Big Al had 20/10 seasons in Minnesota. It was after they got Love..

Anyway, finally getting a legit post 2nd option would be great for Melo. A future core of Ty/Afflalo/Melo/AlJeff would be sick.

Although, I think other teams can match our offer. I'd really like him here though. He should do fine playing next to a defensive guy, and he's a decent shotblocker/rebounder. :D

I don't think the T'Pups would take KMart, so it'd need to be a package of around Nene.

No doubt he's an upgrade over Nene, but we'd still be looking to get a real center to play alongside him as we are now with Nene.

How would Okafor work with Al Jefferson? I could see a deal centered around KMart for Okafor..

That'd be a ton of money tied up to our 2 frontcourt pieces though. :X

I think he'd be perfect next to Biedrins... I think we should really try to push a Kenyon for Jefferson and bad contract... but unless Minny is (Please Use More Appropriate Word), we'll have to give up Nene... then trade KMart or Jr for Biedrins... Jefferson might be a bad defender and a kind of a black hole on offense, we kind of need someone to be assertive and if he could put up 18 and 10, we'd be set... that's why I want Biedrins next to him, Beans doesn't need shots and is a good defender, they compliment each other pefectly

I'm skeptical about Beans at this point, but if the opportunity rises I wouldn't mind him. He's a real good rebounder too, so with Jefferson/Beans, we'd suddenly be an elite rebounding team.

I like that thought.

1. Nene for Al Jefferson.
2. JR + Balkman + TE for Beans + Bell (saves them some money)
3. Mike Miller to the MLE

C - Biedrins / Birdman
PF - Al Jeff / KMart
SF - Melo / Miller
SG - Afflalo / Miller
PG - Billups / Lawson

This roster would give us great versatility.

Biedrins/Jefferson are strong enough to hold their own against the Gasol/Bynum type big bigs of the league. KMart/whoever would be able to defend opposition pick and rolls. Beans/Birdman can form a block party if need be.

It's a great lineup.

That would be a good off-season, but it's looking like M Miller will get more than the MLE. Also with Ronnie BRewer becoming unrestricted, I'd prefer him as our sixth man. The only problem with that team is that we'd still need at least a decent back up big man b/c Kenyon and Bird will probably miss training camp and we might want someone to play 15-20 mpg for the first half of the season. But I like the idea of Kenyon off the bench, b/c he seems like he'd thrive in a Lamar Odom type role and if he doesn't, trade him at the deadline for an overpaid player and some picks/prospects.

I would like Al, as long as Nene is involved. They wouldn't work well together. I would prefer an Al and Murphy combo, but Beans wouldn't be too bad.

That would need to be a 3-way deal. I do not see MN wanting Nene back when they just resigned Darko, Signed Pekovic and want to give Love a chance to prove himself. We need some kind of slashing wing player. Preferable a SG.

Can we 3-way something?

maybe something like
Houston gets Nene
Houston gives Ariza and Jefferies

Denver gives Nene
Denver gets Al Jefferson

Minnesota gives Al Jefferson
Minnesota receives Ariza and Jefferies

Ariza is hardly a slasher or a SG. If anything he is the exact same thing we have in Corey brewer.

I am being told that either a legit SG/slasher type (Iggy-type) or a younger prospect on a nice contract and a TPE. Ariza fits neither of those.

Houston is an interesting idea, but they like Jefferson, maybe getting the NY pick would be the key to a deal there? I think Cap space and the NY pick could be the key.

yea, sad to say but I could see Mn agreeing to Jefferies+the Houston/NY pick.

Not sure Houston does it.

It does not need to even be a good prospect. I heard TWill and cap space for Jefferson as an option. It is disgusting what Kahn is doing.

Eh, I have seen worse. I am just not sure they want anything to do with Martin. Word had it we had a chance at him at the trade deadline and wanted nothing to do with it.

Flexibility is more of a priority unless they are a slashing playmaker. Martin is a bad contract, does not play defense and just shoots a ton.

Even though I don't think a four team trade will ever happen, that's pretty fair

I could see something going down with Kleiza and JR for Jefferson. Gives them 2 starters at their weakest slots.
