Lebron announcement on Thursday

Post#1 » by Sharcm1 » Wed Jul 7, 2010 2:36 am

Well I guess we will find out soon enough where he is going. I personally think that if he is holding an hour long show on espn that he is staying with the cavs. He wouldn't do an hour long show to crush all the cavs fans. He would just say it and go about his business.

So I guess now we know the answer. I think we need to quickly get someone else. A david lee and another role player would be great. we still have a good team just need to add a few pieces and start to build around lopez. we all knew it would be a long shot to get james. It would have been nice but it's time to realize that he was not going to leave the cavs and that this was all for an ego boost.

From the beginning I knew the Nets wouldnt get Lebron. I was against all this shedding cap space and hiring Kiki as coach to save money instead of Patrick Ewing. But I got a little optimistic with the thought that if Prokhorov could get Bosh here LBJ would like to join him. Now with Bosh in Miami, the Nets have nothing to look forward to. David Lee would be a very nice piece, but just Lee alone will not help the Nets make the playoffs. They needed to add another piece even a Joe Johnson or Rudy Gay, who also are both no longer options. Im praying that Rod can pull one more rabbit out of his hat and get Chris Paul into a Nets uniform without giving up Lopez. At this point if the Nets can go into the season with the following lineup I would be pleased:

Paul
C.Lee
T.Will
D.Lee
Lopez

While that lineup is an improvement, we would still have one really big issue. As good as Paul is, a PG should be a PG. We would need a big wing scorer. A go to guy in the clutch. That's what i'm most afraid of in this off season, that we really have no options left on that. At this point i'd even take Korver and start him at the 2 just to have some shooting, especially considering Lee is a 7th or 8th man at best. I've said it before, C.Lee is not a starter in this league.

Down with NJN since Kenny and Derrick

This is actually pretty ironic. Click on the Summer League Practice-Coach Johnson Pt. 2 video in the video section of the page that is marked as 7:32, even though it's really 2 minutes. Listen to the whole thing but in hindsight, what he said at the 0:54 second mark is so ironic.

Avery was speaking about the meeting with Lebron. At 0:54 he says (paraphrasing) "Hopefully he hadn't already decided before we got there"

edit: This was the day after the meeting. So obviously the decision wasn't made yet (at least publicly).

Actually, he was referring all three of them (Bosh, Wade, and LeBron) and he says "Hopefully they hadn't decided anything before we got there". Some of the reporters kinda laughed at that comment and they continued with the interview. Oh, if they only knew what would happen a week later lol.
