Where do you guys have Kobe in the all-time list now?

Post#1 » by WorthyBlitz42 » Wed Jul 7, 2010 5:13 am

Now that he's won his 5th title and his 2nd finals MVP, This is where I have him....

1. Jordan
2. Kareem
3. Wilt
4. Russell
5. Magic
6. Bird
7. Shaq/Duncan
8. Duncan/Shaq
9. Kobe
10. Hakeem

I think that he surpassed Hakeem with his latest ring and is now up there with Shaq and Duncan now, I think there's a valid case right now that he's greater/ahead of Shaq and Duncan too.

I'm sorry I hate to be a douche, but that may be one of the worst lists I've ever seen.

kobe easily ahead of shaq/ducan 5 rings is more than 4. Hell throw him ahead of bird and magic as well. kobe will be #1 when he gets at least 6 rings and beats out kareem for his scoring title.

Forget the alltime list, Bryant has to worry about his own franchise. In LA, the list should be as follows:

West, Magic, Jabbar, Mikan, Wilt, Baylor, Kobe

Bryant has a long way to go before thinking of being the greatest. He has not revolutionized, revitalized or re-invented the game to same extent these other lakers have. Forget the inclusion of Jordan, Bird, Russell, For each Laker listed above, rules were changed, the style of play was trademarked, a signature move/shot of the position with identified or the poetry of the game was expanded. Mikan created the big man focus, Wilt forced the lane to be widened, the dunk was banned because of Jabbar and he responded with a sky-hook, West forced the league to track steals and blocks, Baylor was the first above the rim player and magic brought joy back to the game. Kobe has no similar signature statement. He has been petulant and his rings prove that you need size to win, whether it was Shaq or Gasol. It is not by accident that his losses in the finals mirror the losses by West -- not enough big men. So when asked where Kobe is in the conversation, he is the foreward that allows you to speak about a number of other players instead.

No way he would be number 1. he'd have to accomplish better than this. (Courtesy of Wiki)

Good list WorthyBlitz42. Mine is little different.

1. Michael Jordan
2. Kareem Abdul-Jabbar
3. Bill Russell
4. Magic Johnson
5. Wilt Chamberlain
6A. Larry Bird
6B. Shaquille O'neal
8. Tim Duncan
9. Kobe Bryant
10. Hakeem Olajuwon

Individually Wilt is TOP 3, but his huge decrease in PO numbers, relatively few championhips for a player who's considered GOAT by MANY, constantly got spanked by Russell, his greatest rival (even when he had superior team), stat padding etc...I just can't rank him any higher. I know I'm in minority here, but that's my opinion.

Tim Duncan over Kobe. LOL. Come now, I hope YOU are joking.

Regardless these threads are always crap and usually go nowhere. A top 10 is opinionated and can NEVER EVER EVER be argued with factual results.

People like you are the reason why so many hate LA fans. What's so funny about Tim Duncan over Kobe ? Because 5>4  ? TD vs KB is a good comparison and it's definitely close but wtf is so funny ?

First I care less what other fanbases think of me bro, I don't post here walking on eggshells not to have others dislike my opinions like you. 2nd I am born and raised in L.A. and have been watching the Lake Show for nearly 30 years so I know quite a bit about basketball history and the Lakers, you Estonia, come now. WTF is funny??? Never said anything was funny, only thing funny since you asked is you trying to diss my list when you seem to be either a bandwagon Laker fan or perhaps you have another agenda by pretending to be a Laker fan to give back handed compliments to try and discredit Kobe. What Laker fan in their right mind sports a sig like yours then a Durant avatar. Weak, just like TDs over rated ass, let me know when Duncan suceeds in defending a title in a 3peat let alone a repeat. Sorry to break your heart but TD doesn't break my top ten, not sure why you mad about it.

Bill Russel is in my top 10, have him above Wilt, just with the few teams back then the odds of going to the finals with the most stacked team was almost automatic. Facing inferior teams in the finals was even more automatic. The 11 rings don't impress me much. Have the same team in a more balanced league with 30 teams and I doubt the Celtics even get 1/4 of those rings. But he has the 11 so, unfortunately got to give credit still at having him number 7. West was obviously a more talented player than both Wilt and Russell could ever be, those 2 relied on their physical attribute, height and length, just as Shaq relied on this brut strength to dominate. Neither of those 3 had the pure fundamental skills like Jerry West had. So not sure what your problem is guy. Oh yeah your problem is with your homie Timmy, cause I don't have him in my top 10. Granted he is one of the best PFs ever, however Kobe/Shaq's Lakers have always seem to own them. So, too bad, he will probably never ever be in my top 10 so you gotta learn to live with it or get over it. Like I said if he can defend a title he will crack my top 10.

BTW: Time to update that sig, give credit where credit is due 16 rings now thanks to Kobe leading our L.A. Lakers by beating our rivals. You may also want to change your avatar to Lebron, Wade or Amare while you are at it.

Just because I think Kobe isn't better than Russell, Wilt, Bird etc makes me a bandwagoner and a fake LA fan....whatever. I respect that you've been LA fan for 30 years, that's very long time. I've been LA fan for 10 years and it's half of my life, it's not 30 years but I'm still proud of it. Just because I don't live in USA doesn't mean I can't be a Laker fan. When I started watching NBA my first team was LA and I knew nothing about it's history, players, coaches etc. I didn't know if Kobe and Shaq are TOP 3 players or TOP 30 players in the league. So you can't blame me for picking the strongest team to root for. I have NEVER EVER had any other favorite team or favorite player. I don't give a f*ck about 99.99% of rest of the league.

I watched Kevin Durant before he came to NBA and I really like him...would love to have him in Laker uniform when Kobe decides to retire one day. That's why I have his avatar. It's new to me that you have to have LA avatar and the most current sig to be a real fan. All these accusations you made are BS !
