Hopefully he'll just play the role Novak had. Except the part of him taking the last shot.
If the Clippers win the championship next year I'm getting banned from RealGM

I think we should bring back Novack, I'm not that big a fan of Cook. At least it's a small deal.
I've been an LA Clipper fan since 1998 and that will never change. I hate our new logo and jerseys!

Err...what exactly do we need him for?
And couldn't Novak do the same and be retained for even less?

So this is what the Summer of 2010 has become for us, our own Unholy Trio: Gomes, Foye, & Cook. Doesn't carry quite the same thing as James, Bosh & Wade, huh?

I'm not incredibly impressed with any of these signings, particularly this Cook one, but I'm not disappointed either. I've seen Cook hit some well-timed 3's, and I'll be glad to see him fill a Novak-esque role. My question is, are Gomes & Foye enough to push us over the hump and become a playoff team in 2010-2011? Who is the difference maker? Is it Del Negro?

Essentially, what about this team is going to be different?

(Taking note that the offseason is not over yet. But I don't foresee any other big changes).

You're missing the big one. Blake Griffin. We were a near borderline .500 team last year before we realized we were out of the playoff race. That was without Griffin too. Sure we had Camby, but I wouldn't be surprised if Blake can fill Camby's shoes and more.

It's definitely going to be Blake Griffin. He's the type of player and personality this team needs. He looked great during last year's summer league, and physically he looks like he's gotten bigger and stronger. He'll be the difference maker. Aside from BG, I remember the Clips losing so many big leads last season in the 2nd half, so if we can get some solid players to fill out the bench, we should be able to hold on to those leads.

Clips needed a big man to stretch the floor. I was hoping for Matt Bonner. Brian Cook seems like the type of player you pick up in late August to fill out your roster but I kind of have faith in Olshey so I'm not too critical over it.

Gomes was fine, need a sf anyways, Foye was a bit eh........ i hope he doesn't slow down bledsoe's growth or take his minutes.

We are clearly in rebuilding mode in my opinion having struck out this summer in FA. Not sure why we need an aging vet like cook, but at least his contract is short and modest i guess. We can probably try for a playoff run next year but if that doesn't work out i really hope they decide to build around the young core we have.

Okay, the Gomes and Foye signings I thought were alright, but this? Why in the world would we sign this guy? Cook isn't even rotation material. If we're not signing Novak, and Cook is meant to be his replacement, then this is just a plain bad signing, whether its cheap or not.

Ah, that guy. You know, I didn't have too much faith in him being a difference maker for us before his injury last year, and I don't really now. Perhaps it's just my Clipper-based pessimism, but the guy is a rookie. I loved watching him last summer league and preseason, but now he won't be fresh and springy, he'll be coming off an injury. I guess I'm just weary about getting too excited about him. Greg Oden anyone? I dunno, I hope I'm wrong.

Yeah but unlike Oden, Blake doesn't look like a grandpa. You'd expect Oden to have brittle bones. I think he'll be fine as long as he doesn't play wild like he did during pre-season.

No idea why we wanted him, i spose he has experience and can hit the three. Im not happy with this signing, Gomes and Foye i am fine with.

God, I hate Cook, he is a pile of poop. Thought I saw the last of this guy from being in L.A.

But thanks to him, y'all did get Ariza, so at least he was useful there.
