yes, but its not likely because theres only two spots left, if he takes one of them there will be only 1 left, and then a tough decision on who to give the final spot to Ebanks, or Caracter

I believe you are right! I love Shannon but Barnes just did it in for him. I live in Orlando and my girl almost threw up in her mouth when she heard Matt was signing with my Lakers!

I think we'll get Brown too...

We've been known to roll with 14 into the season and then waive someone later...

I think we'll pick up Brown on the off chance Ebanks or Caracter don't work out or so that both of them can spend significant time on the D-League... And also in case Walton can't come back...

Yea but i doubt it, Barnes pretty much killed his shot at returning here, i guess he f'd up opting out. I say give the spots to Ebanks and Caracter, good cheap rookies. These are two rooks who can be developed into rotation players rather spend the $2M on brown, spend less and get two solid rookies to mold.

It's possible. I've never been under the impression Caracter would make the team, and I still believe that. If Buss gives the ok to making the deal, Shannon will be back and we'll sign Eubanks. Ratliff was the knockout signing, not Barnes.

given Ratlifs age and Bynum injury issues, Caracter is def. making the team

Fisher/Blake
Kobe/Barnes/Sasha
Artest/Luke
Gasol/Odom
Drew/Ratliff

That's 11 guaranteed spots taken. Because we will get Ebanks and Caracter for very cheap, I could see Buss willing to carry 14 players IF Shannon is willing to accept a minimum contract.

He hasn't gotten much attention from other teams, so it's still possible.

If Shannon doesn't come back, what are we losing?

This really I love Shannon but its not like he was an essential part of us winning the chip. I would be all for him resigning if it weren't for two reasons:

1. The Matt Barnes signing.
2. Caracter and Ebanks summer league performances. Caracter has the potential to really be a good player for us and the off chance that Ebanks becomes an Ariza 2.0 is just too good to pass up.

Lakers Twitter page posted this quote from Mitch, "We're still talking to Shannon. I expect some resolution in the next two weeks. I'm optimistic."

^ Wow. I was expecting Shannon to start negotiations with other teams after we got Matt Barnes.

If Mitch can get Shannon back too, our bench will be stacked.

Blake/Brown/Barnes/Odom can all be part of the rotation.

Caracter/Ratliff/Sasha to round off the bench.

Ebanks?/Luke on the IL.
Thank you, Phil.

I guess all of these guys talking about the Luke Walton rumors were right. Also a sign that Brown could be back. Sucks to see this happening to Luke.
Kupchak was "optimistic" about Brown returning and called Barnes "insurance" bc Walton (back) might well miss next season.

If Luke can't play the entire season because of his back don't we get some kind of salary cap exception?
Thank you, Phil.

They're usually pretty strict with those, so I doubt we get one. Besides, we're so far over the cap it wouldn't matter anyways. I just look at it as a huge bonus that Luke won't be playing, so I'm not going to get greedy.

Haha, agreed though I thought Luke could have helped the 2nd unit with the offense considering Blake and Barnes are new to the system.

If Shannon comes back how will the PT be split between him and Barnes. The Most mins i see both guys getting is about 15 per game. And also in another tweet today it was reported that Mitch had opened negotiations with Ebanks and Caracter wat pt do they get my best guess for them is that Caracter is on the roster but Ebanks is in Bakersfield most of the season.
