Leafs Next Star

Post#1 » by Griff83 » Thu Jul 29, 2010 6:02 pm

Nope its not Kessel.
Nope Its not Phaneuf.

His name is Nazem Kadri.

This kid has a set of hands this franchise hasnt seen in forever and a swagger to match. I dont get all the pundits who think he only has 2nd line upside. This kid forsure can be a legit #1 centre in the league if he puts in the work physically. He has this composure and confidence in him that you dont see with many prospects. Watch this video I'm about to post and more specifically the highlights shown when hes playing for the London Knights.

I have a feeling this kid if going to be special.

The video's been removed. I don't believe Kadri is going to reach a ridiculous level, but he does have a certain swagger about him and I'm confident this kid is capable of consistently hitting the 70 point plateau.

I think he's too small and frail, he's going to have to hit the gym and get bigger. But I do agree with what you're saying I think he's got that kind of potential in him.

I see him as our future 1st line centre as well and depending how Bozak is coming along, he could see some minutes on the top line this year. Bozak only has 37 more games than Kadri and Kadri has the higher ceiling so hopefully he does get some playing time. But maybe one step at a time, lets have Kadri show us he's ready for the NHL first then we can wallow in the glory of finally getting a draft pick right.

he also tries to do too much with the puck, which means that someone's gonna nail him.

Heres the thing with Kadri. He needs to learn how to share the puck, which he is completely capable of doing. He does have insane handling skills but he also give up the puck more then any player I have ever seen. It is frustrating watching him play at times but then out of no where he goes down the ice and gets a game winning goal blowing by 5 skaters on his way. He has the skill to be a number one but he has to get his head on straight.

I've met the guy a couple times downtown London and he is an extremely cocky dude and rails a ton of women. Which is cool but he can't act like this going into the NHL next year, his teammates on the Knights disliked him a lot last year because of how cocky and arrogant he was.

Don't get me wrong he is a great player and I'm praying for good things, but he NEEDS a good strong coach to make sure he has his head on straight.

Another plus side is that he plays a lot bigger then he is. He is small but he lay the body A LOT. At least in the OHL and Junior tourny.
