Build A Team: A Nets and Wolves Board Team-Up

Post#1 » by SOUP » Wed Aug 4, 2010 12:35 am

I don´t know if you guys have seen on the Knicks board a game they play called "Build A Team". Basically it consists of the 30 NBA teams, we each pick one, theres a lottery and an order, and we start picking off players and building our teams. Afterwards we plug em into 2K10, post the ratings of each team (ratings don´t really matter that much), and just simulate a season. See who makes the playoffs and wins it all, post the results, MVP, ROY, etc....

The Nets board doesnt have enough members, and knowing you guys are actually a small board as well, we would like to extend this invitation to play with us, you guys down? If so can some of you guys help me organize it?

Thanks in advance, it would be A LOT of fun.

We have to give NJ fans some of the teams. It's good to see we're taking teams nobody would ever want, although somebody is going to have to pick NYK sooner or later.

Maybe have 15 teams on each forum and we pick West teams and they pick East?

That's fair. In that case I would like to be the Warriors, of course if we have to choose a West team.

You'd be my hero if you picked a Western Conference team just so we don't get first dibs (Nets fans haven't even picked yet), but I'm just going to leave it on the list of names taken.

Meh. I don't want any other West team than the Wolves. Sign me up for the Jazz if we do the WC

I'll take the Suns. They're fairly entertaining to watch on any given night

I'll take the Lakers, if they're still available.

And a tip for anyone else who wants to join from someone who has a fair amount of experience with the 2k series. Basically, you should always aim for the best teams even in these fantasy draft situations. Each of the teams have certain team "sliders" that affect how they play/act during the games with the best team obviously having the best sliders and the worst teams having worse ones.

For example, if Boston and Minnesota had equal teams and matched up in, say, the playoffs, Boston would win every time because their sliders are just that much better. These sliders affect things like help defense, defensive pressure and there's a few other offense based ones I can't remember off the top of my head. These can be changed but I don't remember anyone that ever has in these things.

Hope that didn't sound self righteous either, just thought I'd let people know since most people I've played this type of thing with haven't and end up getting pissed off when they lose to someone they feel they shouldn't.

I'll take the spurs if possible. If not, my second choice is the thunder.

I'll take the Jazz/Thunder/Blazers, in that order, depending on other people.

Return to Minnesota Timberwolves
