Wow, this team is good.

Post#1 » by nashchill » Wed Aug 4, 2010 7:06 pm

Well, I'm new to the boards, I'm a fan of both Josh Childress and Steve Nash, and all I've got to say is: WOW.

People underrate this team big time, an advantage we have over most teams is our slashing ability, we've got crazy athletic guys on the team now, J-Rich/Warrick/Childress, that's going to be a big advantage for us and it's getting overlooked! Imagine Nash dropping dimes to those three and going to the hoop, Jason is the same as always, Josh is in his prime and so is Warrick, we've got the edge in youth and athleticism.

Welcome!

I think the team definitely has the potential to surprise. To be quite honest I don't feel that we match last year's team in terms of quality, with Amar'e being gone. I do think we can make the Playoffs but I doubt pretty heavily we'd beat the Lakers in a series for example. Not to be a negative Nancy

Might I ask, where does your interest in Childress come from - college, Hawks, overseas?

College/overseas, I'm originally from Europe and I watched him with Olympiakos where he put up nice numbers, I only learned English a few years ago while my family is Greek.

What exactly did Amare give us in the Lakers series that our current crop won't be able to give? He was a damn bum that series.

True, I was more combining 2 thoughts - that I don't think we can produce the same win total or beat the elite teams without a go-to like Amar'e...but you're right that shouldn't hurt us if we get in another series like that.

That's true, who knows what'll happen against an older L.A?

The thing with amare is..even though he was a bum that series and didnt rebound or defend at all..he still needed a double team.

Yeah, that's because he was a beast ever since the all star break. They assumed he'd run wild but he didn't.

Who else in our front court can average 25 pts / 1.5 blocks in that series? If that's a BAD series for him, than his replacements will be much worse. You're in for a big surprise.

plus you shouldn't short change Amare for his 6 rebounds in 38 minutes

it's not like anyone on the team can get you more. At least he can score and command double teams. Warrick will give you less rebounds and half his points and will never command a double team.

While I "agree" with the notion that Amare is not replaceable, the 25pt average is inflated because of his 42 point game. He didn't do too much else otherwise, especially where we needed him (rebounding).

Especially with Lopez playing limited limits, I would've expected Amare's rebounding numbers to increase, but instead they decreased. That is not what we need from our starting Power Forward.

Exactly! Amar'e was a one trick pony most of the time, he has more bad rebounding nights then good ones.

well by the moves the Suns organization have done this offseason, it's obvious they don't put an emphasis on rebounding. The 2 main things that were missing from last year's team was rebounding and defense. We signed a bunch of players and none of them could do either. That is the definition of a stupid front office if i ever saw one. The one guy who could at least get you points and some boards down low left, and the guys who they signed don't even approach what Amare did, even with his lack of rebounding.

I will never understand all the money they spent this summer signing players that do not cover the holes in our roster. It's just mindboggling that finally Sarver spends money, and it doesn't cover anything that was needed for the team. Just got a bunch of players that are replicas of other players already on the team.

Yeah that's true, to bad his double teaming was worthless cause he didn't do much.

The only thing I think we're gonna miss for the first few games into the season or more is the double teams amare caused. I think a P n r finisher can be found in either warrick(please start him damn it) or lopez. But they are gonna have to start goin crazy and puttin up 20 point games for the defenses to react to them like they did with amare.
