A Positive Column

Post#1 » by evildallas » Thu Aug 12, 2010 4:44 pm

With all the negativity going into the season (a lot of it from me) I thought I should link to this Hoopsworld column making the case for the Hawks deserving some respect.

The Hawks at this point, through their continued improvement, should have earned the hardcore NBA enthusiast's respect by now. Atlanta has improved their win totals in each of the past five seasons, returns all five starters, sixth man of the year and won 53 games in 2010.

But instead in what's become the common trend of the summer is the notion that the Hawks will finish the 2011 campaign in worse shape and the franchise is on a downward or flat trajectory.

The diehard NBA fan or analyst should know better than to fall victim to bandwagon preseason forecast mentality, which means staying with the status quo just because another franchise picked up a few new toys in free agency.

Ehh. I agree we deserve some respect but its not like were contenders. Hardcore NBA fans know this. Hawks fans know this. The core is nice but it doesnt compete with the big guys. It is nice to see someone not write us off though.
Is it to much to ask for a team that plays hard and cares? Seems so.
