Sigh, I miss him already.........

I remember thinking after the 04/05 playoffs that he was gonna be a multiple time MVP for us..everyone was talking about how he was gonna beast on everyone, and he did but not nearly the level that could have been had it not been for the microfracture

Maybe he's just doing this to let people know that there are no hard feelings?

They are informal workouts, it's not uncommon for guys to work out with players from other teams. Past few years though most of the Suns have worked out together and have had former players join them. Pretty sure Q was there after his trade in '05 as well.

He did say all along he wanted to stay in Phoenix though, but he made the smart choice by taking the money.

Maybe he is going to keep his family in Scottsdale and his home?

I remember the NBA when players hated eachother and would never be buddy-buddy with the opponent. Boy times have changed.

Maybe he's trying to get access to our medical staff before he's no longer welcome during the season lol

Lol, it was more of a rhetorical question. I would think since he is the one who bolted he would feel like he is not welcome here. However, Jared Dudley said he knew along Amare was leaving, so maybe there are no hard feelings for Amare from the rest of the squad, but he just didn't want to stay with the way management (Sarver) is.
Heck, I wonder if Steve Nash even wants to be here...

If Amare was totally unhappy over in NY and wanted to leave, would you do a

Nash, Turk and Clark

for

Amare, Wilson Chandler and Toney Douglas?

I bet he misses the Suns. Of course he is very happy in New York though, and that's good for him. Apparently the Hedo trade was already lined up, even before Stoudemire left. It was designed with the intent to build more around Amare, I believe.

Imagine Lopez, Amare, Hedo, Hill, J-Rich, Nash...

Well good for him to get that big contract. I mean, its not like we miss him or anything right?

Got a link on that?

But I totally agree with everything else in your first paragraph.

Your last sentence just makes me want to cry.

Alvin Gentry said on KTAR that the Hedo deal was in place before Amare left so it would entice him to stay.

I would've loved that lineup...so hard to defend.

We wouldn't have signed Childress, Warrick, or probably even resigned Frye but I would've loved it and in my opinion we would've been a top 4 nba team with the Lakers Heat and Celtics

Assuming we would have had Turkoglu either way, it essentially came down to:

Frye - who I believe we would have re-signed anyways as well

And then - Childress + Warrick for Stoudemire

The above essentially functions like return value in a Stoudemire trade (since he was S&T'd). You never get equal value when a star player is leaving. That's just fact.

While the jury is still out on how Warrick will perform in this set-up, Childress will really impress a lot of you.

Over all, it may not have been an improvement (or even a lateral move), but it's not as much of a downgrade as everyone seems to want to believe. It's really not.

I'm just imagining the Suns without Warrick and keeping Amare, re-signing Frye, and signing Josh Childress.
That would look like a team that is trying to win after just going to the Western Conference Finals.

It's either Childress or Frye. We don't have enough MLE to go around to both players. So assuming we kept Frye but not sign Childress, I think we're still looking at a pretty hardcore lineup. That team would be a top 3 team in the West.

Total scrub, if he's doing a physical we should just sign him for Training Camp.

I don't know why Gentry would say that as given personnel had nothing to do with Amare leaving. As long as the Suns were offering 56 million in guarantees, and the Knicks were offering 99 million in guarantees, the Suns could have done a sign and trade for Lebron James and he still would have signed with New York. The man to blame for Amare leaving is Sarver.

Are you really implying that if we had signed LeBron, that Amare would still had left? Sarver made a smart clause, to cover our team. I don't blame him at all. We'll see how that pans out in a couple of years.
