Clifford Ray Would be PERFECT Big Man Coach

Post#1 » by Chocolate City Jordanaire » Sat Sep 11, 2010 7:19 am

If he really is leaving the Cs, Clifford Ray is someone the Wizards need to pursue with a lucrative offer.

I got to speak to him once when Pete Newell's Big Man Camp was here in Hawaii. Told him I remembered him from when GS swept the Bullets. I also recalled him working with Webber and Howard years back. Clifford Ray is a humble guy.

I can't think of anyone better to tutor Seraphin, Booker, or McGee on positional defense and rebounding fundamentals. I would think he could really get into teaching those guys, Yi, and (if he sticks) Hamady.
Tre Johnson is the future of the Wizards.

CCJ, I did send Ted an email pitching him on bringing-on a big man coach, no response yet. :(

Going back to my memory banks, yeah Cliff Ray - if he isn't too old - sounds like an interesting choice. He was like a brick wall on defense - a poor man's Unseld/Willis Reed type - and a great team player - a very unsung player considering how valuable he was.

Hope he can teach Yi. Yi's basket ball IQ is not high.
But he is much stronger.
