Anyone bummed we didn't get Lou Amundson?

Post#1 » by chube » Thu Sep 16, 2010 2:16 am

I think I know the answer already, but I just thought I'd throw it out there since he signed with Golden State a couple days ago.

I never really understood why Indy was even pursuing him at all. Last year, which apparently was one of his best, he averaged something like 4.4 and 3.5 in under 20 minutes per game. PF is obviously the big hole for the Pacers right now, but the last thing Indy needs is another backup-worthy PF to join Hansbrough, McRoberts, and Solo, especially when they've said they want to try and keep Magnum Rolle, who is younger and would play for a cheaper contract.

Ah well...not a loss by any means in my book.

Not me. We might have looked at signing him, but it looks like we're looking for a bigger upgrade. I like this if true.

Bingo. Not disappointed at all. I do like his game for what he can do but he needs to go to the right system, right team, and i don't feel the Pacers were it. If the Pacers fail to land what ever they're looking for at a PF this year, i'd prefer to play Magnum Rolle over Amundson. Rolle could have a long future with big potential in the NBA. Amundson.... we know his peak, we know what he's all about.

Not bummed. His ponytail is just wrong. I have a feeling we're all going to like the Psycho T 'do a lot better.

No, I'm not really bummed at all. My guess is that since he signed for the Warriors, that it would have been a multi year contract. Considering the flexibility we should have next off season, I'd rather look for a better big rotation then.

I'm still worried about the 4 for this season, but I'd rather have as much cap space as possible for future seasons.

I don't mind Amundson, but he'd be no starting power forward for Indiana. I'm sorry, but the man can't play offense, I'm doubtful he's even good on the pick and role. He'll be a solid roleplayer in Golden State, but a starter? Please.

You-guys also invited Richard Hendrix to camp, a very solid PF. If Tyler stays injured or whatever, you have Rolle and Hendrix in your back-pocket (if some other team doesn't sign them 1st). Nice.

Is anybody bummed that we got him? I'm unsure. His contract is expiring. :P

Ha....nice bump!

I'm closer to apathetic about Lou than anything else. I feel that Rush would not be doing here in Indy what he is doing in Golden State. He needed a fresh scenery. I do feel ok with putting Amundson in on most any given night if the situation calls for it. He's a very serviceable big, and if he can help keep Jeff Foster fresh for late season play, he'll have done his job.

Lou gives us GREAT depth in the frontcourt. Foster, Hansbrough, and Amundson are all from the same mold and every game it's like playing Tyler hansbrough for 48 minutes. Not to mention Jeff Pendergraph is still pretty fresh.

He's a third-stringer making small coin. All he has to do is play hard in limited minutes, be a good teammate, and stay out of trouble off the court. I'd say he's doing those things--he is adequate frontline depth at a low price. Works for me.

If the Pacers get an opportunity to flip Collison and Hansbrough for a remarkable upgrade at pg this season you'd be glad you havea guy who wouldn't kill you if he had to absorb all of West's backup minutes.

And you know what, there's something refreshing about that. Obviously, don't be a complete homer, but... I like that the guy has a positive outlook on all our players.

Moooose, what do you think about Darren Collison? (I just want to hear one nice thing said about the guy on this board, he is so criminally insulted by all you fools all the time)

As long as he doesn't try to score besides a put back or a wide open dunk, I don't have a problem with him. He's a nice energy big to have on the bench.
