melo to one of the LA teams

Post#1 » by TruSkool » Tue Sep 21, 2010 1:58 pm

seems like lakers have what it takes to land melo? although i think its utter bullsh*t and a marketing technique yet again.
dont know why they keep throwing our name out there as possible suitors for various players...then again, dont know why i made this thread either.

Bynum would have to be included, probably.

Bynum would def. need to be included which I don't think we as Laker fans are cool with. It is so much easier to find a SF than it would be to find a true center with talent. Either way we have no shot. I think we would have pushed for a deal if we hadn't won back to back championships. I actually think these reports are to have other teams up the ante for Melo as no one in the league would want to see Melo with Kobe and Pau

No, we're going to trade Luke Walton and Sasha Vujacic for Carmelo Anthony and Chris Paul. Obviously.

Hmm...not sure how our lineup would look if we made that kind of move...but maybe we'd be part of a larger deal?

We'd need a center if we dealt Bynum.

Unless we want Theo and Fish to start, the oldest PG/C combo in the league

Wonder what Mitch would cook up (if it were possible)....

clips have young talent and cap space that the lakers do not have. AB would or could be included. Nugs I would think want young players and expiring contracts and a major player, so 3 teams would need to be involved. Carmelo would need to sign an extension. No team is going to get the Lebron effect again. Burned without something coming back.

Small ball for the win.

PG: Chris Paul ........ Derek Fisher
SG: Kobe Bryant ........ Devin Ebanks
SF: Carmelo Anthony .......... Ron Artest
PF: Brian Cook ......... Derrick Character
C: Pau Gasol ......... Theo Ratlif

Seems perfect to me.

My serious solution is we sign Eric Dampier for the vet min so he can win a ring.

considering clips were after lebron all offseason, i would think "one of the LA teams" is referring to the clippers

Can we just have Brian Cook sit and play the other teams 4 on 5?

G=K do u seriously think the Lakers can add Paul, and Melo without giving up at least Pau. Please write stuff that makes sense I know the Lakers are deep they are not deep enough to add both Melo and Paul. I know there are some Laker fans among us that think every great player should at least spend 3 yrs with the Lakers but come on be realistic. And also G=K do u really think they can add those 2 guys and still have Artest coming off the bench.

Just playing around on the Trade Machine:

Bynum + Artest = Melo + Birdman

KMart + Jeffries = Melo (Houston also has picks to give up)

Clippers can't do it. Don't have the pieces.

Gallinari + Curry = Melo (Don't think anyone wants Curry but it makes the money right)

Houston is in the best position to make something happen in my opinion.

If we ended up with:

Blake/Fish
Kobe/Shannon
Melo/Barnes
Pau/Odom
Dampier/Birdman/Ratliff

I think we would be much better off than:

hoping* wishing* praying* that bynum will be able to play 45 games at 65% healthy

I know everyone here disagrees with me.

I for 1 do not all the way disagree with you, but like I said before it is a lot harder to find a true talented center than it would be to find a perimeter player. I am totally against trading Bynum but I would say we would need a big man in return, and Birdman does not fit that need too well. If it could be worked out to get Nene instead than perfect. Or get another team involved and also walk away with maybe possibly Marc Gasol that is ideal. Otherwise stick with what we got.

Either this is a total waste of time this ain't happening, and just became one huge pipe dream.
