Dolphins Lead Up: UPDATE: Rodgers Probable, Clay Doubtful
Not much good news to report. Could be without all three of Matthews, Finley, Rodgers, the Dolphins are a pretty solid team that has had the bye week to prepare.
The way I see it, this is a must win game given the next six on our schedule:
vs. Miami
vs. Minnesota
at New York Jets
vs. Dallas
at Minnesota
at Atlanta
Just a brutal next six weeks. Have to get the Miami game.

Re: Dolphins Lead Up: Week 6
We need the win but I think Matthews, Finley and Pickett definitely sit. Rather have Clay miss one game than the next 4-5. Rodgers I don't know about. Concussions are unpredictable.
I'm against picketing but I don't know how to show it.

Bedard made a good point this morning as well:

I'm starting to believe Packers QB Aaron Rodgers was concussed much earlier in the game and probably no one knew it.
Greg A. Bedard
Actually, before the sneak he was 13 of 16, 149 yards, 1 TD. After: 14 of 30, 144, 0 TDs, 1 INT.

Re: Dolphins Lead Up: Week 6
So, if Pickett, Finley, Rodgers, Matthews all can't play, here are the projected starters we are missing from day 1 of the season vs. Miami:
Barnett
Burnett
Matthews
Pickett
Tauscher
Rodgers
Finley
Grant
In addition to Harris, Bigby, Jolly, Chillar, Harrell and Shields.
That is downright incredible.

Re: Dolphins Lead Up: Week 6
After the sneak, he was still playing well but he had the one drive where Jones dropped two passes and Driver dropped one. The offense was really never the same after that drive.

I've never seen anything like this happen in just five games.

Chillar was also a starter, for what it is worth. I believe he started at ILB with Barnett.
Regardless... That would be a lot of injuries for any team to have at the end of the entire season.

Since some of these look like they are day to day, it's going to be weird getting like up to 9 people back the week of the Vikings game.

When you have a bye week is always a crapshoot. It figures that this year we have our latest bye week ever.
I'm against picketing but I don't know how to show it.

Re: Dolphins Lead Up: Week 6
6. Green Bay (3-2). The Packers lost a crushing one in Washington, and though it wasn't because of their running game, you got the feeling during the week that the players were turning a questioning eye toward GM Ted Thompson for not making a deal to augment the backfield when Marshawn Lynch was shipped to Seattle for a fourth-round pick.
"The politically correct answer is that we want to go and fight with the team we have,'' cornerback Charles Woodson told Jim Rome, via sportsradiointerviews.com. "But whenever you look on the TV and you see breaking news and it's somebody making a deal like that, a part of you wants to do something to rival the attention that another team is getting from making a big trade. We would definitely welcome that ... For us, as players, there's nothing you can do.''
Again, the Packers didn't lose to the Redskins because of the run (17 rushes, 157 yards). It's the passing game that needs the most help right now.

It is odd for King to bring that up now when Woodson said it last week.

Agreed. I guess because he said it after last weeks King's column he wanted to include it. But that's old old old news.

If we can beat Miami, I think we could still win 9 games. 9-7 might be able to get a playoff spot.

Re: Dolphins Lead Up: Week 6
Rodgers doesn't play = loss.
Rodgers plays, Clay doesn't = toss up.
Both play = I like the matchup for us given our run defense, should have a decent shot.

Re: Dolphins Lead Up: Week 6
Sooner or later, Rodgers and the offense are due to snap out of this funk and dump 30-some points on somebody. When that happens, the defense has easily played well enough to win those games. It's just not easy to predict when that will happen. Miami has a really talented group of corners that all cover and tackle well, but they gave up a bunch of points against New England and the Jets.
Cameron Wake scares the hell out of me. Given the way Clifton has struggled this season, Wake could really make Rodgers' (I'll be more surprised if he doesn't play than if he does) day a nightmare.
Our defense should be able to create some turnovers in this game. If we hold their running game in check, which we should, Henne will throw some picks. Woodson will bait him into one, and I expect Woodson to have a huge game given how emotional he was at the end of the Washington game.
I'm looking forward to seeing Tramon Williams matched up with Brandon Marshall. Quietly, Williams has been one of the best cover corners in the NFL this season but Marshall is a beast.

Re: Dolphins Lead Up: Week 6
Really, we have four weeks until the bye. If we can find a way to scrounge out a 2-2 record (going to be tough, but three of the four are at home), we should have everyone back but the guys that are out for the season (Grant, Harrell, Burnett, Barnett) for the Vikings game after the bye (assuming the entire team isn't injured by then). I think going 2-2 the next four means you have to win vs. Miami, which is probably the easiest team of the next four and it is at home (I know the Vikings are 1-3, but IMO they are better than their record).
