Love 4 Bargnani

Post#1 » by Dandy » Sat Nov 6, 2010 7:28 am

Minnesota Trades: Kevin Love, Corey Brewer

Toronto Trades: Andrea Bargnani, Sonny Weems

Kevin Love has been a major let down this season and it seems that he would rather do interviews or cameos than workout or play defense. I say send him to Canada for a former 1st pick who has been a dissapointment for Toronto. A change of scenery would probably help motivate both players to elevate their games. Corey and Sonny are included to match up the salaries. Toronto also cuts salary for next season.

Minnesota Lineup:
C: Milicic, Pekovic, Koufus
PF: Bargnani, Tolliver
SF: Beasley, Webster, Hayward
SG: Johnson, Weems, Ellington
PG: Flynn, Ridnour, Telfair

I'm really tired, but I can say Bargnani isn't that great of a rebounder, so trading Love will leave a pretty big hole that Pekovic and Milicic will be unable to fill. There isn't any justification in taking Bargnani's contract over Love's rookie contract. That move destroys the cap space that Minnesota has spent years on building.

capwise this is an awful deal for the Wolves. Rosterwise, does this help either team? I'm not sure how either team benefits, this may be a lose-lose all around. a change of teams isn't going to get Love to try of defense, nor will it get Bargs to hit the boards.

No thanks. Even with Love's struggles I'd rather have him the Bargnani.

It would only help our perimeter shooting while other areas would get worse.

Terrible. Both equally bad at defense but at least Love can rebound.

It is interesting to see Bargnani's BPG going up consistently ... we could use that. All-around he's a etter defensive player and scoring is comparable. A quick no is naive...

The big issue is the contract. There's no reason to take on money to aquire Bargnani.

Understood.

I just want us to consider thes options ... we can't always look at sustaining salary cap if players have no interest in being here. It's a fine line, but I think we need to "consider" moves like this that involve young and improving players.

I have not seen enough of Bargnani to have a strong enough opinion, but I do feel he has some potential to help us as a team. If Love does not develop more of an inside game, I'm not sold that his rebounding makes up for his defense and 3-pt shooting.

Barnagni has as many flaws as Love. He's not a good defender and he's a terrible rebounder. It's not just about cap space, Barnagni isn't a guy I would take the risk on.

Those blocks are misleading. Bargnani is a terrible defender.

If we do decide to trade Love, there will be much better trades out there. Trades that will actually help fix some of the team's problems.

Jefferson averaged 1.7 blocks per game in 08-09. Blocks aren't a good way to judge defence.

Hell no. I can't stand Bargnani. I'll admit Love's had a slow start to the season, but it's already painful enough trying to watch us grab a board when he's out of the game. Our rebounding numbers would be abysmal with Barg.
