Mike Bibby for Mo Williams

Post#1 » by Harry10 » Tue Nov 23, 2010 2:11 pm

Mike Bibby and Maurice Evans, for Mo Williams

wondering if Cleveland would be interested in doing this. Cavs get alittle help with the cap and the Hawks get alittle more help to go up against MIA and ORL.

For the lazy...Evans is an expiring and Bibby has one more year at $6.2M.

Yes I do that deal.

Cleveland is giving more talent, but dropping the third year obligation to Mo. This puts Boobie in the starting lineup and Bibby is a legitimate backup for the next two years. Even Evans would be useful against teams where the small backcourt just won't work.

I'd do that in a hearbeat.

There is no way I do that deal. Mo Williams/Moon for Marvin is one of the few deals that make sense for both sides.
Well at least we're not Detroit!

I didn't want Bibby when he still had something left in the tank.

I would hope the Cavaliers would at least hold out for a first round pick in such a deal. Hell, they had to give up a first for Jamison last year and also swing a 3 way so the Wizards also got Thornton in the trade.

Of course they can!...they just have to overpay them. The sooner we're done overpaying Mo the sooner we'll be able to move on to overpaying someone else.

No free agents are coming to Cleveland. They woudn't come even when we had LeBron.

We need young talent and draft picks to rebuild this team.

Agree to disagree, but fine.
Cap space isn't just used to sign free agents. Its also used to absorb contracts that sometimes come with young talent and draft picks attached.

Well, we haven't actually been under the cap since Larry Hughes. However, I really don't think we are overpaying Mo at all. I also think he's a player that teams would be interested in much like Bibby was at one time. While I understand the value of cap space, I also know that if you completely tear your team down without adding assets, you end up with a much longer rebuild

I have no problem with this team trading Mo. I personally don't think he's overpaid either.

With that said we have to get back some asset even if it's just a late round pick or a young player. We aren't Miami and capspace is not going to bring in a young all-star. We have to build thru the draft and trades. Giving away any of our assets is not going to help us.

With the possible exception of Jamison, I wouldn't give away any of our players for cap space. Jamison is still productive and will be an expiring contract next year so maybe Grant could even squeeze out a 2nd round pick in addition to expirings for him.

Bibby is a worse defender than Mo Williams, and THAT is saying a lot.

mike bibby is an older version of mo at this point although is a smarter player. still not the trade i would look for unless bibby only has one year left.
