Frank Gore out for season

Of all the preposterous assumptions of humanity over humanity, nothing exceeds most of the criticisms made on the habits of the poor by the well-housed, well-warmed, and well-fed.

Just as things finally seem to start to be looking up......

Other than Qubes, I can't think of another offensive player that is as crucial to their team as Frank is. This is the worst case scenario, period. Not only is Frisco losing the guy that accounts for like 70% of the offense, they also will be missing a guy who is phenomonal with reading defenses and is great at blitz pickups. For a team with an sieve of an offensive (and that swith Staley even) losing Frank the blocker is devastating.

We are going to see just how good Troy Smith really is now. Frank takes so much pressure of the QB, cuz he provides an excellent running game and is great with reads/blocking. Westy will be ok, but lets be real here, at this point he is not near as good as Frank is.

The line is horrible even with Staley, without him its easily one of the worst in the league. So that means that Vern is going to have to stay on the line and block more often now, which in turn hurts the passing game. That coupled with defenses now knowing they no longer have to gameplan for a premier RB. Troy is a proven winner but he isn't seasoned at all and isn't exactly going to strike fear into any d-coordinator's hearts. I just don't see the offense doing much from here on out.

A bad, bad, bad break.

Not sure how bad this is really. I do agree that we can't replace him as a blocker. Westbrook isn't close there. However, I like the possibility that comes out of this. Westbrook should have gotten more carries and I really like the potential from Dixon. They might make a nice combo. Also, Westbrook is no slouch. This isn't like the Packers losing Grant. Teams will still have to prepare for the run. Singeltary will run no matter what, so they will prepare for it. Also, they won't know what to expect from Westbrook or Dixon.
The other thing is that the offense is going to have to be more creative. I know it's a big loss, but there is always a potential positive. Someone else has to step up now. Let's hope that is what gets this team to look the way they were supposed to.
