Rush and McRoberts so far?
The question, are one or both of these guys starting caliber or potenially starting caliber NBA players on a good team? I personally like what I'm seeing from both.
Trade boards and our board have had threads discussing potential targets for our ultimate shooting guard and power forward. Andre Igwadala and Carl Landry in particular get a lot of attention. But I'm wondering if by season's end we would see either of these guys as upgrades over what we have right now?
Rush to AI, a better shooter, pretty close as a lock down defender and not the creater off the dribble. Whyyyyyyyy cheaper. I don't think you can justify the extra cost. And, you have to think Rush has more room to improve.
McRoberts to Landry, not nearly the scorer, at least equal defensively, better shot blocker and rebounder. McRoberts is pretty effective in a motion offense with his handle and passing ability. I'm not sure Landry would ever bring this skill set.
Today (always subject to change tomorrow) I say you ride with what you have.

Re: Rush and McRoberts so far?
plus Landry is 3 and a half years older than Josh. he's still a very young player having come out of college early. I think we're okay at four and can always find another one in the draft with Landry potential. Solo has also stepped up his game which takes the pressure for a backup 5 off a bit.
I've long thought that Rush shows more physical talent than even Danny at a comparable age. I have no doubt that Granger and Rush will be starting wings soon and don't see a need for a major upgrade there. the jury is still out on whether George will be the third wing or not but we can always resign Mike at a reasonable price if Paul flops.
so yes, I agree we should ride with what we have.

Re: Rush and McRoberts so far?
I'm up for upgrading at PF and having Josh and T-hans off the bench. But I'm liking the possibility of having Rush starting at SG for the future. I really would like him not sharing minutes w/ Dunleavy, as Rush is argueably outplaying him on the offensive end and as far as defense goes, that's well documented.

Let's not forget George can still work. Rush and George will be interesting over the next three years or so, and then at PF we can find someone good via FA. What can happen is we sign a non-PF and trade him for a PF we want.

Re: Rush and McRoberts so far?
Got to say I am pleased by Brandon's game now.
McRoberts doesn't look like a starter but if he continues to improve he may yet. He has the physical tools and seems to be working hard.
I think a savvy vet PF that could start for a couple years and give us experience would be great - if we did not have to pay way more than he's worth.
West fits the bill unless he wants a looong contract and a pay raise. It'll be a couple years even with the most optimistic attitude before either of our young 4s. outplay him.
If we could get him for about what hes making now I'd be happy. Pick up a good back up 5 for 4-5 mil and we'd still be able to resign Hib. and we'd be pretty strong for years.

I've long thought that Rush is the answer at SG for us. He is a good defender and seems a lot more confident with his shot and taking it to the hole this season. If he keeps this up and keeps growing I think we have a very good future at the wings between BRush, Danny and Paul George.

Re: Rush and McRoberts so far?
There's two things about his game that are different this season.
1) He is playing more aggresive.
2) He is finally able to shoot off the dribble.

i like both, but i feel McBob is more of a bench player, than a starter, but i'm pleased with what he is doing this season.

Re: Rush and McRoberts so far?
Rush is exactly what we need next to Granger. Someone who can score 12-16 ppg a game and play stellar defense.
I'm not sure McRoberts is a starter on a contending team, but I love his energy, and his athleticism in the frontcourt really gives us a different dimension than we have had in previous years.

Re: Rush and McRoberts so far?
Rush has recently convinced me that he may have a future. His play is a lot better than his two brothers Jaron and Kareem, and that was my concern, that he'd be just like them.
McRob is a b/u utility player, there is tremendous value w/ him coming off the bench, and I'd reward him accordingly.

Re: Rush and McRoberts so far?
Rush could definitely be a starter on a championship team. He's similar to a Bruce Bowen type in his game, and Bowen was a great piece on those spurs teams.
McBobs.... so far, no better than a bench piece on a real team. And not much of one at that.

Re: Rush and McRoberts so far?
I'd never really thought that Rush was the right guy for us as a starting two guard, not because he lacked the ability, but because he came across as a knucklehead. But the way he's playing now, I'm starting to agree with PR07 that he is just about a perfect complement to Granger--a wing who is a strong defender yet can also score a bit. I hope Rush has turned a corner and will keep this up.
I still think McRoberts is probably going to prove to be someone we'd rather see as a rotation guy rather than a starter. But he's done a pretty good job so far. I guess I'll wait and see.

Re: Rush and McRoberts so far?
I like McRoberts a lot as a long-term rotational PF/C player for us at low cost. He's smart, and plays with effort and intensity. He may not be starter material in my eyes, but he looks like he could be a solid answer at 20 minutes a night backing up both the PF and C spots.

Re: Rush and McRoberts so far?
I am surprised with Rush so far this year.. He seems to have finally figured out that he can score without sitting at the 3pt line. Has played solid a defense too.
McRoberts has been up and down. Started off up then strung together some real stinkers and now back up. I think he is a little soft on both sides of the floor - he watches for shots to block but often times this leaves his man open for an easy rebound and putback. Has struggled with boxing out recently and I hope he doesnt get the Murphy syndrome of wanting rebounds just to make his stats look better. I close my eyes every time he tries to drive to the basket or posts up .. he has no moves.. not even a hook shot.

I've only seen one Pacers game this year, but I've got McRob on my fantasy team and he has been beastly over the past two weeks. Isn't great at any one thing but contributes in a lot of categories.

If McBob gets 10 assists one of these games (He's getting ~4-5 these last few games) he'll have a shot at a triple-double.

He has the ball under the basket with the shot clock runnin out so he kicks it back out to the 3. Turnover. Next possesion, Shoots a 3 off the side of the backboard. He's a scrub who shouldn't be allowed in the D-League.
That's a bit unfair to Dunleavy...

I think many people would have a shot at a triple double if they got 10 assists

Its pretty easy for the 4 spot to get assists in JOBs offense. Not much required.

Even when he was tentative on offense, Rush played damned good defense...now he's doing it at the offensive end too...I'd say stick him at the 2 for 30+ minutes a game and our SG situation is solid for the next decade...

Re: Rush and McRoberts so far?
Why Rush isn't finishing these games is beyond frustrating for me. Take Posey out, put Rush in. Granger can play the 4. We'll have better late-game D, and lose nothing on offense.
