What point guards do you want to target right now !

Post#1 » by dozencousins » Wed Dec 8, 2010 9:50 pm

As trades will gradually happen in the NBA a little more often now & more so at the deadline what point guards would you like to see the KINGS acquire ?
We are not talking about college players !

In no certain order i would like to see the following players :

ARRON BROOKS
CHAUNCEY BILLIPS
CP3 ( HUGE IFFY HERE BUT IF FOR SOME REASON DUE TO THE HORNETS FINANCIAL WOES THEY END UP WILLING TO PART WITH HIM I WANT HIM IN SAC FOR SURE ! )
STEVE NASH ( AGAIN IFFY BUT IF THE SUNS SEE THEMSELVES REBUILDING & THE SEE GORAT AS THEIR FUTURE HE MIGHT BE POSSIBLE )
OJ MAYO ( HE IS A PG/SG & MIGHT OR MIGHT NOT BE A GOOD FIT I THINK HE WOULD BE THOUGH ) I THINK WE ARE LESS LIKELY TO GET HIM .
ERIC MAYNOR ( VERY SMALL CONTRACT & PLAYS AS A BACK UP POINT GUARD COULD END UP BEING A STAR )
JOHNNY FLYNN ( MIGHT BE OBTAINABLE AS RUBIO IS EXPECTED TO BE WITH THE WOLVES NEXT SEASON )
JARED BAYLESS ( I WANT HIM THE MOST BEEN TRADED TWICE THIS YEAR NOT SURE IF OR WHEN HE COULD GET DEALT AGAIN ?
MARIO CHALMERS
KIRK HINRICH ( HE IS QUESTIONABLE REALLY DEPENDS ON THE DEAL IF WE GET HIM I WANT TO RID OURSELVES OF SOME OF OUR SALARY I AM NOT WILLING TO ADD SALARY TO GET HIM !
DARREN COLLISON ( DOUBT THE PACERS WILL DEAL HIM AFTER TRADING FOR HIM )
RONALD STUCKEY

Who do you guys like ? If we could not land 1 of these guys I would rather rid out the season with the point guards we have & just sign our point guard in the off season & or draft one as well !

thoughts ????

Mo Williams might be realistic, and given his stroke, he'd be ideal.

To add to the unrealistic, but would-be-awesome list: Jrue Holiday, DJ Augustin, Gilbert Arenas (he actually might not be unrealistic...)

Practically every PG in the entire league would be an upgrade over Udrih and Head though. So as long as neither one of them is starting in January I'd be happy to send a gift basket to Mr. Petrie.

Also, I'm not sure how necessary the CAPS are in the parentheses. That was hard to read.

From that list, Hinrich and Billups are the best fit. Brooks might be in there somewhere but we lose any size advantage at that point. The others either don't fit or unattainable.

The only thing I want for Christmas is a consistent outside shooter...and that doesn't have to be a PG. I'm fine with letting the roster as it is play together more so they can learn how to play together. I'm fine with Beno and Pooh as the PGs with Reke fitting into that mix at times. No need to waste time and energy on something that is not really a high priority IMO. Spend that time on getting a consistent sharpshooter.
This space needs to be filled with a new sig...but I'm too lazy to make one.

Realistically,

Billups
Jrue Holiday
Jose Calderon
Andre Miller
Mo Williams

I like j a c k a s s Brandon Jennings, but he's a j a c k a s s.

I'm also fine with Beno and Pooh and would like to see us get a good outside shooter. But some point guards I really like are Holiday, Teague, Lawson, and Bledsoe.

Kings problem is not the PG position.

This probably isn't realistic and quite possibly blasphemous, but what about Stephen Curry? He's a putrid defender and won't solve our lack of veterans problem, but he can shoot the lights out which is arguably our biggest weakness. He's also a good play maker, another of our weaknesses. I actually think he would fit well with Cousins, hovering around the perimeter or making cuts, sort of like the Peja/Webber duo. There is a trade Curry thread on the Warriors board, which kinda means he's not all that untouchable.

Maybe a Landry for Curry swap? They need bigs and Landry's big enough to play the 4 or 5 on the Warriors.

Farmar isn't anything special. And the Nets are not going to give up Harris quickly imo.

I think Curry is a perfect fit for Evans & Kings due to his elite shooting, high BBIQ, good passer and off the ball movement.

But come on now, the Warriors aren't going to bite if the Kings are only offering Landry. I would offer anything in this roster (Evans & Cousins are off limits) to get Curry.

Those Warriors fans in that board are funny. Most of the time, those guys have agendas & bias. I mean, half the time I'm left in confusion after reading some posters comments over there. There is actually one poster over there is hell bent to bad mouth Curry every possible way. In general, their fans are dysfunctional like their team so I wouldn't put too much stock into their comments.

I'm actually starting to really want Maynor. He just seems like such a solid over all presence on the court. Solid defender, good shooter, nice passer. Basically he isn't flashy but he is steady at the PG position which is something that we could use.

I say lets give Jeter a few games before we make any movements. But if he isn't any kind of real help at the PG position and he was just a one game wonder then I think we look to make the move. But I would like to give the guy a chance before we do anything, because what he did in that game was very important to our success he controlled the tempo and made a lot of decisions that structured our offense.

IF he doesn't pan out then lets make a move for Maynor I'd be willing to do a Landry for Maynor and a late 1st kind of deal.

Landry hasn't looked happy to be playing recently and If he is having that type of attitude I would like to move him. Also I'm very open to moving Dalembert for a PG his mistakes on offense have been a big liability and he ends up as a ball stopper not because he's trying to make the offensive play but because he has clubs for hands and can't catch passes or maintain possession and turns the ball over.

Calderon is having an OK year for us, he is about 10lbs lighter and healthy. He isn't as bad a defender as he showed last year, i think that hamstring really has been ailing for 2 yrs. Never will be a great defender, but he will bring you passing, shooting, and can get to the rim occasionally.

Raps are looking for a defensive C, you have a few prospects on the Kings that are interesting in Hassan Whiteside and Jason Thompson. The raps would be willing to take on salary (Udrih? whoever really). Might be good trade partners...

Honestly, I've thought this sine last year (as a Kings fan living in the bay and living with Warriors fans) - Curry would be a PERFECT fit next to Tyreke. Everything we'd need but the veteran leadership part.

I would do anything I can other then taking Reke and Cousins out of the team to get Curry.

Won't happen though.

I'd give Landry and 2011 unprotected.

I think Jrue Holiday would make a nice compliment to Evans, but I doubt he'd be available for what Sacramento would be smart to give up.

Why would the Warriors trade Curry? I see no reason they would trade Curry, barring some crazy offer.
Sometimes you just have to look yourself in the mirror and say....Tyreke Evans.
That just happened.
