Most improved player

I'm a little biased obviously, but lets just give the the award to Kevin Love. Just pull some strings Stern and get it over with. Sorry Hibbert, it's not even close.

Kevin Love
-increased his .815 FT% to .892 (16th in the NBA and 4th among all forwards)
-increased his .330 3P% to .409
-increased PPG by 6.1
-increased RPG by 4.5
-#1 in the NBA for RP48, ORPG, and DRPG
-31/31

Thought I'd pull this up too while I was at it.

Darko Milicic (averages include Knicks games)
Increased PPG by 2.5
-increased RPG by 1.5
-Increased APG by .8
-Increased BPG by 1.7
-2nd in NBA for BPG (**** Bogut)
-#1 in the NBA for BP48
-Was +41 in just 26 minutes of play in a game against the Cavs

Michael Beasley
-increased PPG by 7.2
-increased his .450 FG% to .472
-increased his .275 3P% to .409
-6th in the NBA in PP48
-42 points

I thought Darko was #1 in the league in bpg.

It's a little early but if he keeps it up, sure. What he's done up to now is definitely more impressive then Hibbert.

You forgot to put in his 5(?) 20-20 games, which is almost half of the total number that the Wolves franchise has recorded.

There has been ten 20/20 games in the league this year, Kevin Love has 5 of them.

It's about 10 days late, but if Hibbert is still on the top of that list it's a joke. He's improved his points and rebounds by just over 3 each and apart from that all of his stats are pretty much the same.

Most Improved Player Of The Year Watch

Love

1. Kevin Love, Timberwolves: Too bad the Timberwolves have only five victories, because a case can be made for K-Love to be in the MVP watch. The league leader in double-doubles and rebounds is averaging 20 points and 15.3 rebounds a game.

2. Roy Hibbert, Pacers: The key to Hibbert becoming one of the East's best big men? Apparently it's mixed martial arts. Watch.

3. Michael Beasley, Timberwolves: While Kevin Love does all of the dirty work in Minnesota, Beasley is the leading scorer and go-to player for the Wolves.

4. Eric Gordon, Clippers: If he played for another team he would be a virtual lock to be an All-Star, but he is stuck in Clippersland, where the little bit of media attention the team gets is usually focused on ROY front-runner Blake Griffin.

5. Luis Scola, Rockets: Whether Yao Ming is in the lineup or not, Scola, who is averaging 20.3 points and 8.7 rebounds per game, has emerged as Houston's top player.

Who votes for these awards?

Love is putting up quite MVP worthy numbers.

Beasley, Darko, or Love could take MIP.

I'd like to see Wes #3 for roty (doesn't look like thats going to happen)(Griffin shouldn't be eligble imo).

Darko making a case for Defensive Player.

It'd be wonderful having a coach worthy of coach of the year, thats why we lose games in the crunch time. Alot of first-year coaches worthy of winning COTY in the first quarter of the season .

I still don't see Hibbert's minimal increases as MIP worthy but at least Love has taken his rightful place at the top.

Not that PER is everything, but Hibbert's gone from 16.30 to 20.44. Love's gone from 20.72 to 23.52. I wouldn't say Hibbert's improvement has been minimal.
"A while back,'' Cardinal said, "I took a picture of the standings and texted it to Love, just to bust his chops,'' Cardinal said. "He sent me a picture back of a snowdrift.''

I didn't check PER. Makes it a little better for Hibbert, but his pure per game numbers haven't improved enough to impress.

i'm a biased ucla/kluv fan, but i must say hibbert has surprised the crap out of me. i expected him to be a total bust,,,like thabeet. so from that point of view hibbert has surpassed my expectations more than kluv. i always felt kluv had it, but he needed the minutes, and from what i've read on this board in the past, many posters felt the same way.

kluv needed minutes, or a new coach, or both. he's getting 10 minutes more now than at the beginning of the season, and a full quarters worth more than last year. that should be about 4+ boards more right there

i always knew he could shoot and he's now showing it...i just hope he doesn't fall in love with the 3. still disappointed with his apg, though. i think it should be between 4 and 5.

i remember a post months ago when someone said a physician said kluv was still growing. has anyone noticed this at all ???

For Hibbert it´s not just numbers, the guy literally improved everything about him as a basketball player. Mental aspect is much improved, lost tons of weight, upped his conditioning by a ton, is much more mobile, has become the key to their offense with his passing (which is spectacular), is a much improved finisher while taking tougher shots , defends 2 levels better than before while fouling much less.

I for one am seriously impressed by him, the guy put in the work and deserves to get the recognition he gets.

Only judge as you want to be judged. Following the timberwolves one doesn´t want the team to be judged by the lack of wins (because the pieces and play improved a ton) or Darko by his overall numbers rather than his performance, so don´t do the same with Hibbert. Not everything is black and white ;)

Westbrook :o

I knew he was producing solid numbers, but I didn't realize how much of an improvement he actually made.
