Wesley Matthews For Serge Ibaka

Post#1 » by BigSlam » Mon Dec 20, 2010 1:54 pm

My current roster:

D.Will
Westbrook
Brooks

Joe Johnson
Iggy
JRich
Wes
Mayo
Shard
T.Will

Horford
Bosh
Lopez
Diaw
Gibson
Monroe
Oden

At the end of each season we protect 13 players and release 4 into the FA pool and with the incoming rookies for our yearly draft.

Should I trade Wes Matthews for Serge Ibaka straight up?

I'm contending this season (currenlty 4th) and strong in pretty much all the cats except for blocks and boards - which Ibaka gets. He's young with considerable upside but with Collison back will his playing time/production take a hit?

With Roy having all these knee issues and Nate super high on Wes, should I hang onto him for myself and look to trade someone like Shard for Camby as a quick fix instead?

Ibaka is a solid young keeper, The thunder do themselves a disservice by handing out heavy minutes to Kristic and Collison

Hell no. Wes Matthews is awesome. Even when Brandon Roy was playing, they had Nic Batum coming off the bench and Wes put up good numbers. Of all of your shooting guards, Wes has the most long-term upside too. He's just such a good ball player. Knows where to be, scrappy as hell on defense, doesn't force things, gets stls, has great %'s, hits 3's.

I would rather keep Wes, and maybe trade one of your other guys for a Javale McGee if you need blocks or give Ekpe Udoh a look (6 blks past 2 games ... ). I agree with you Ibaka has crazy upside, but as of now, this trade is uneven.
