Our Current Schedule

Post#1 » by shangrila » Tue Dec 21, 2010 11:50 am

I thought this needed to be said.

The Timberwolves have currently played 18 road games to only 11 home games. Portland, the Lakers and Houston are currently 2nd with 16. The game differential of 7 is also the largest in the league and it's above average by a fair bit.

The team has also already had 7 back-to-backs, which means 48% of the total games played have been in that situation. Of those 7, 5 of them have been completely on the road and all 7 involve at least 1 road game. The team has also followed a back-to-back with another one 3 times, including 3 back-to-backs in the current road trip from the 11th to the 20th. Finally, of the back-to-backs that include only road games, only 1 has had a home game before it and that was the New York game sandwiched between Lakers-Kings and Hawks-Bobcats BTBs.

So I guess what I'm trying to say is be patient. This is one hell of a brutal schedule.

Trade away Ridnour, now! and and Flynn and Pekovic if they don't improve by deadline!

The Wolves have been trying my patience for years, I think I can get through this. I just hope our team stays patient and more importantly confident through this rough stretch.

Not only that, look at the strength of schedule so far.

Miami (away), Orlando (away), Atlanta 2x, Lakers 2x, OKC 2x, Spurs 2x, Bulls (away), Suns(away), Blazers (away), Denver (away).

It's been **** brutal so far with the above making up 50% of their games.

According to ESPN, we are like 24th in SOS over the last 10 games.

Yeah, the Wolves schedule eased up, and they still keep racking up the bad losses. @ New York, @ Golden State, @ Phoenix, @ Portland, those were totally winnable games. And the Wolves went 0-4 on the stretch. And people keep giving the team a pass for absurd reasons.

I don't think they factor in road vs home games because while I do hate to make excuses, a 6 game road trip should factor in somewhere.

Road vs. home shouldn't matter. They had proven they could beat the Knicks weeks earlier, Curry missed the Golden State game, Phoenix is a miserable rebounding and defensive team, and like half of Portland's roster was out.

I'm over of the excuses people are making. This team is close to falling behind last season's miserable pace. Defend that.

I'm not defending $#!t, just questioning ESPN's method of determining SOS. Yes, Home vs Road should be a factor, considering very few teams (Maybe just the Knicks?) have a better road record than home.

Those were some winnable games.

Ha, not directed at you, man. I think we're on the same page as far as not making excuses for this team. I'm just really pissed off because I was sold on how much better this team was, and their results on the court have been the same. Just some venting.

A 6 game road trip involving 3 back-to-backs is tough on anyone

I went back and had a look at last year's first 29 games. Here's what I found.

After 29 games, they had played 14 road games, a 4 game difference from this year. They had 6 back-to-backs, but only 3 of them were both road games instead of the 5 the team has currently had. Their biggest road trip was a 3 game stretch.

So compared to last season, this has been a much tougher schedule.

And we only got 1 win on the road. Back to backs don't seem to be the problem here.
