Hawks Feel No Pressure To Make Move

The Hawks have watched their competition in the Eastern Conference improve, but they are in no rush to make a hasty move.

According to a league source, the Hawks are content with their current roster.

"You always have to look to get better, especially if you're not of a Laker or Boston character," coach Larry Drew said. "...I don't know that it means that we're panicking and we do anything. We have to always entertain the fact, 'Can we do something to make our team better?' We can never be satisfied and that's what our upper branch is doing."

Atlanta is 19-12 despite losing Joe Johnson for nine games following elbow surgery.

"Anything is possible, anything can happen," Jamal Crawford said. "But they've been so committed to the core guys here. Miami made all these changes and Boston made changes. We really stayed pat for the most part."

this makes me sad......... I like our team but they can never be a true contender with how they are built. Unless teague turns into a baby Derrick Rose. which he very well could after watching him these last few games.

I believe that, if we let the group settle down a bit, leave JJ alone to recover his confidence, wait for Crawford to be in good condition, let Bibby play more games, so as the RS advances he gets more into shape, we could be much better and have not much to envy.

Of course we are not going to contend with the Celtics and Heat with our roster, unless Teague is given more confidence and turns out to be a good player, or Marvin is hit by a ray and suddenly becomes agressive... but the way we play against Orlando this week, using all we have in the team (Collins, Zaza) and adding Crawford and Powell could be the way to make a run at the Conference Semifinals and then, who knows...

The main problem I see with this team is the coach. I do not understand why we spent that much on JJ, Horford and JSmoove to complete it with such a low profile coach. I am sure some other well paid coach could get much more out of this group. And that would not be a huge financial difference...

IMO, the Hawks aren't going to make a move......

Since Sund has been here, what move has he made during the season? Anyone?

2008 - no transactions
2009-10 - signed Mario West to 2 10 day contracts, then for remainder of the season.
2010 - zilch

Anyone see a pattern here? Sund doesn't tinker during the season.

At best he is average in his decision making. And that's exactly where this team is headed.

Return to Atlanta Hawks
