Anyone on our team for the right price?

Post#1 » by rdehonney » Thu Dec 30, 2010 1:04 am

I'm sure you guys have seen the headline but I'm curious what you think about it. I'm torn because i like a good number of our guys, but it's clear that morey feels the same way I do, we need a star and we aren't going to be a championship conternder with our current group so why not change the team up. I was thinking that everyone but k-mart and scola would be available but according to chad ford even they can go for the right price.

I've given up on trying to predict what Morey will do. :)

The cult of Morey does not like you questioning his moves

Remember the first two rules of the Church of Morey?

rule number 1: Thou shall not question his Moreyness
rule number 2: Thou shall NOT question his Moreyness

Yeah it says Shane and Luis are also available, but for me those 2 should be the untouchables.

W/ all the missed open shots this year, his age and him losing a little on the defensive end how is battier untouchable?

He's by no means considered "untouchable". It is preferred that he be bought out and be returned to Hou though.

If Shane is traded, i doubt he would return to the Rockets unless they show signs of being able to contend for a title. I think if he was traded to a non-contending team, he would probably negotiate a buyout and sign with a contending team 30 days after the trade. He is in the latter stages of his career and probably wants that ring. I could see the Magic,Spurs, Celtics, Heat or Mavs taking a serious look at him. I believe the Spurs have one roster spot left open that they're not gonna fill until February.

Yeah i dont think he returns in this case, Rockets should keep him and sign him an extension for the next 2-3 years.

Would you guys be intersted in trading patrick patterson? or is he on the untouchable side? I really think he can become a very good player in the league.

It's possible that Patterson could be moved; but only in a consolidation deal. In other words, it would really have to be worth it for Houston. Morey won't let him go for scraps, if that's what you're hoping.

So what do the Rockets need? So if you Patterson were to go he would have to be included with someone else? Who do you guys want to get rid of? If he goes does it need to be for a proven vet or like someone who has potential like him but fit a need for the Rockets more? Just wondering what you guys think of Patterson mainly and what it would take to let him go or if you guys are really high on him.

If he goes, I'd think he goes as a make-weight along with other players.

The goal is to give quantity and get more quality, we have 2 completely different lineups and both work almost equal, i mean, if you have Brooks-Lee-Budinger-Patterson-Miller playing bench minutes you are not taking full advantage of the quality of the team.

we need to combine Brooks (his shooting) and Lowry (his hustle & playmaking) into one player
we need to combine Yao (his skill) and Hayes (his health) into one player
we need to combine Battier (his defense) and Martin (his shooting) into one player
we need to combine Budinger (his shooting) and Lee (his defense) into one player
we need to combine Scola (his offensive skill) and Patterson (his defense awareness) into one player

^ I started a thread on the general board asking if it's possible to win a championship with all specialists that complement each other. I used to think it was, but now I'm starting to think it's not.

too many flaws for this team to be contenders w/ just all star role players. even the playoffs is a longshot

Return to Houston Rockets
