So being that the pick is from NJ, does that mean we get a high 2nd round pick?!

So hopefully Steph Curry gets traded and then GSW tanks the rest of the season = top 2nd pick for the Lakers... Would be pretty nice.

Curry to the Lakers...I would do it. Send all the second round picks. Walton.

Think of the scoring punch that would give our second unit.

I'm hoping the Lakers trade the 2 higher picks and get a 1st rounder in return and pickup Nolan Smith in the last 10 picks of the 1st round.

If you're thinking of him being our PG then no, Nolan doesn't function right being a distributer, the Duke offense flowed much more freely when a real PG like Irving was playing. I guess what I'm trying to say is that he should be nothing more than a SG. Why not go after Brandon Knight he's a much better PG prospect and should be available around the 20th picks. And nothing more than a pipe dream if you think Curry gets traded to us for a bunch of second rounders. If you think people bitch about the Gasol trade, just imagine what real gm'ers would do if Mitch pulled Curry for some garbage picks.

Knicks want a 1st round pick to send to Denver as part of trade for Carmelo. They also are rumored to be wanting to trade Anthony Randolph for a 1st rounder. I would rather see the Lakers get a 1st round pick and get Randolph.

We don't need a traditional PG. I think it's a good idea to go after Nolan Smith because he's mature and ready to contribute.

Everything i've read about Nolan Smith reminds me of Fisher. He's not a true PG like Kidd or Nash but he can be a floor general. Strong, plays defense can hit three and he's ready to play now not a project. I think Nolan can start getting nice PT next season even with Fisher and Blake still on the team.

As some real gm'ers like to point out we barely run the triangle anyway. And if you're wanting a player to start next season over Fisher, then we're better off with Fredette. I expect Jimmer to be drafted somewhere near that 20ish pick (no higher than 15) all this lotto talk are just posters still living in the hype. Idk why some of you are opposed to getting a true PG, I honestly don't think Kobe would have any problem with someone else being the primary ball handler, just as long as he's primary scorer. If anything it could help some of his finger issues.

Lakers do not want a late first round pick, because, and correct me if I am wrong, first round picks are guaranteed contracts right?

Yes. Also because the talent gap between late first rounder and early 1st rounder is nearly non existent and has to do with luck.
