Cubs close to long term contract with Marmol

Baseball sources tell us that Cubs GM Jim Hendry is close to finalizing a long-term deal with closer Carlos Marmol.

The contract should be announced before pitchers and catchers report to spring training next weekend.

The Cubs bullpen is going to be solid this year after being the weak spot last year. Marshall, Wood, Marmol is a nasty 3-some. Hopefully Grabow sucks less this year.

Our weak spot this year will probably be our bench. Fukudome, Koyie Hill, Jeff Baker. Eek.

he just needs to work on his control. he would be unstoppable if he can locate his pitches. hope the contract is no longer than 3 years. u dont want to invest too much money in reliever. he aint no marino rivera
