jax won't change despite techs

But for Jackson, it’s about right and wrong, fairness and not losing his emotional edge.

Don’t expect a calmer Captain Jack anytime soon.

“No, I get techs because I want to. I don’t care,” Jackson said Sunday. “I’m not getting techs for no reason. It happens.”

“Obviously, I don’t want to be suspended and miss a game, but I’m out there trying to win,” Jackson said. “I’m going to go out there and be me. If me speaking my mind gets me a tech, hey.”

“Normally, I just take him out and try to cool off and them put him back (in),” Silas said. “He’s an important part of the team and without him we’re not nearly as good. But when he gets into the referees, that’s not good.”

“He feels like he’s been done wrong so he acts out. There’s nothing you can really do about that except support him and try to calm him down.”

He's been doing better recently. Yeah he got one last game or the game before, but he hadn't gotten one for a little while.

my beef with jax isnt so much the techs he gets, its the complaining to the refs instead of getting back on defense. that really irks me.

At the same time, it's this same attitude that we all know is one of the biggest thing he brings to the team. His personality, while it may sometimes be detrimental to the organization, is imho what gives this team at least half of the fire it has, it's a huge part of our identity.

In essence, it's Bad Jax vs. Good Jax once again. But I do think he brings more positives than negatives, because his "swagger" and him not letting the team be pushed around outweigh the times where he... well, you know when he's Bad Jax.

He does seem to be able to manage it a bit better though lately, as captaincrunk mentioned, I'm amazed he didn't get a technical against the Heat with all the fishy refereeing.

Part of why he has less techs under silas, is because losing pisses him off and we're doing less of that. I'd wager he gets more techs in games we've lost than in games we've won by far.

That is exactly what makes me so mad when he gets them. It is unfair to the rest of the team and it usually costs us points, on top of the FT's.

man jax has every right to be pissed at 90 percent of the calls cause he gets zero love from the refs but you are just not helping the team cursing the ref out while the rest of your team is playing 4 on 5 on defense

Word.

The techs never really bothered me when he was on the warriors, it was the constant complaining and refusing to get back on defense that pissed me off.

"I was trying to get him out of the game" between the first and second technicals, said coach Paul Silas. "I couldn't get him out and he was talking, talking, talking. It's tough. We depend on him."

All Jax had to do was walk off the court, go sit down and cool off for a min and a half. Then it would have been half time and he could have come out in the 2nd half fresh.

But he couldn't even do that. He couldn't just walk off the court - even though his coach was trying to get him out of the game to protect him.

:o

Are you effing kidding me? Don't judge him? Dude has got himself tossed from THREE games this year for double T's and is amongst the leaders in T's this season.

It's not judging him, it's fact. He has zero self control. He makes his bed then refuses to lay in it.

He portray's himself as SUCH a victim. It drives me crazy.

Man up for Pete's sake.

I'm beginning to wonder if it's possible to read the tea leaves of what might be going on behind the scenes based on how certain players are acting out and/or performing. Example: Jax was working his butt off for a time while Crash was out, not getting into too much trouble, and talking out about how much he wants to stay in Charlotte. Crash was out of sorts, not at all happy, playing uninspired. Now, just as Crash seems to be re-ignited in his production, Jax is displaying a horrible attitude relative to his tech's, and knows he's hurting the team, but doesn't care, and says he's going home to his wife and kids who care about him.

Is it too big a reach to think that this occurs in part because of possible trade talk that hey hear about or know of from their agents? Maybe Crash was on the block for a time and he resented that based on all he's done here. Now, maybe Jax hear's he is the one most likely to exit, and is showing out as a result?

Whatever the reason, I just think this team would love to get the right deal for Diaw and a similar quality trade of either Jax (front office preferred) or Crash.
I continue to wait...and hope...for the return to Hornet's glory.

As a fan of a team that used to have Jackson I can tell you that that is probably not what is going on with him. Initially he's in this heavenly mode where he's the perfect leader, teammate, and a valuable player. Then he starts getting a little too comfortable and tries to do too much...then he thinks he's a superstar...then the techs pile up, he stops running back on defense opting to complain to the ref instead, the odd comments to the media happen more often, and as boredom sinks in his attitude just gets worse and worse.

Trade him before he demands a trade. The worst basketball I have ever seen in my life was the first two weeks of last season. Jackson demanded a trade, didn't get it immediately, and proceeded to play like an immature 2nd grader. Only passing to his friends and playing with no passion, it was disgusting.

How much of is his reputation a liability?

Do the refs put the whistles away on that last foul that they did not call a foul tonight specifically because it's Stephen Jackson?

And if that is the case, can we afford to carry that baggage with us?
