Rashard Lewis, who scored just three points in 28 minutes last night, told reporters after practice today that his right knee is in a lot of pain and surgery may need to happen, either in-season or after its over.

Lewis said he's been dealing with the issue since early in the season in Orlando, and it just keeps getting worse.

So with Howard back they can rest Lewis and when he returns, they can play him less minutes.

Interesting. By skipping the San Antonio and Cleveland games, Rashard picked the perfect time to get a rest and heal up. If he skips the Orlando game this Wednesday, he will have taken advantage of the schedule to get two full weeks of rest and rehab while missing a total of just 3 games. And so far, in two of those three games missed, his presence or lack thereof was utterly meaningless. San Antonio was going to blow us out either way, and we were going to blow out Cleveland either way.

Hopefully the time off will help him get through the rest of the season at something close to 100%.

Exactly.

You have to hope they keep him out of the Orlando game or if they do use him, it is only for a few minutes to line up at the 3 line ala his Orlando role. I remember one year AJ was injured coming into a situation like this. They didn't let him rest consecutive weeks. Go ol EFJ. He came back. Played 40 plus minutes a game or two then back out another two weeks or so.

If they can get Lewis's knee to calm down, I think they can ride out the year getting him 20-25 minutes a game. With everyone else healthy, that is all they need from him.

Hope his knee not too bad. He has not missed many games due to injury in last 3 seasons and if he can go he will do it.

Just want to see him play against his old team. Lewis vs Turk.
