West: I was only joking about L.A.'s aging roster

Jerry West says his critical comments about the age of the Lakers were meant as a joke.

West described the intense reaction to what he said as "laughable" and just part of an "endless soap opera."

"You can't even have an opinion anymore," he said. "Everyone has an opinion. I was joking."

On Friday, West called L.A.'s 92-86 victory over the Celtics in Boston on Thursday as a "great win," adding he's more optimistic about the team's chances of winning another title.

. Per wiretap. Was nothing more than motivation for the team as we all knew, now the fools who sided with him are left saying "lolwtf"

Yeah, half the time, when I'm joking, I'm telling the truth too.

Most "jokes" half a great deal of truth in them ... this is no different.

Couple Things...

Since when has Jerry West been known as a joker?

Secondly, it concerns me when he's bothered by the medias interpretation and following his every word. He sounds discouraged, that's dissapointing because i enjoy his candor, now he's gonna clam up I bet.
