New York Daily News Article on Williams

Post#1 » by retiredcoach » Tue Feb 15, 2011 7:58 pm

Here's an interesting take on the Sloan/Williams controversy. Parts of it match up with some of the things I've mentioned like Williams wanting CJ to start instead of Bell. (Corbin can't do that right away until Bell recovers and plays a couple of games.) I have no idea if Williams had actually gone this far, but it's what he said he would do if he didn't like things, so maybe he had already done it.

The Williams part is at the bottom and on the second page.

Yeah, the article is speculation because the sources are not named. But the assertions in the article match up better to what has been said publicly than almost all of the speculative articles I've read.

Of course, it could still be just luck and not fact that it fit better.

Of course what's been said publicly by everyone from KOC to Sloan is that Sloan CHOSE to step down and wasn't FORCED out....I like how anyone that hints around that DWill is the bad guy behind everything is believable yet anyone that comes out is support DWill is spinning things....if anything DWill has been too honest in his career rather than telling ppl what he thinks they want to hear but now he's a liar and easily replacable judging by the threads on this board....

Williams is an excellent player. I hope he stays with the Jazz.

The problem is he seems like a guy that is very hard to satisfy. When someone is dissatisfied, they tend to blame it on the things around them and not consider how much their behavior and attitude contributes to the problem.

I really don't care how much or how little impact Williams had on Sloan leaving. It was time for a change. The problem is change is a two sided sword. The Jazz could get a lot better or they could get a lot worse. It will be the middle of next season before the direction is known.

Williams seems very easy to satisfy:prove that you are trying to win and he's happy...I dont think anyone, even those that wanted Sloan gone think that his leaving will change/improve anything automatically...
