The availability of Nene and J.R.
Wondering if the Nuggets would trade them or perfer to keep them. Anything on the Suns roster that would work? Carter/Lopez $3 million works and the Suns have two firsts available. I don't know how attached you are to these two guys, so is there anything on the Suns roster that would be acceptable. Just want to know if anything fair could be worked out.

They are 2 of my favorite players on the team, so it wouldn't be fair if I attempt to answer your question because of the homerism that would be involved

Sorry I don't think I would trade those 2 for anything on the Suns roster.

I'd trade JR for Gortat,if Melo stays at the team.

About a dozen teams are interested in Nene. Orlando could use him as a sidekick for Howard, but I'm not sure they have the assets that the Nuggets would want.

Re: The availability of Nene and J.R.
This thread seems like as good a place as any for the question I have...
Golden State fan here. Obviously we have interest in Nene, and the most obvious asset we have to barter with are expiring contracts. In a recent discussion, I came up with a purely hypothetical trade scenario here. No rumors whatsoever; just me making stuff up. If we did the rumored deal with NJ, suppose we turned around and did the following with you guys:
Murphy (expiring) for Nene
VladRad (expiring) and Udoh for Harrington and Birdman
I can briefly state the benefits for us: we'd get a big man with any inside game at all (which we sorely lack) and a great deal more depth than we've been playing with all year. From your point of view, it is clearly a cut bait scenario, but if you believe in such a thing it is a solid one. You'd go into next year with:
Felton ($7.5m)/Lawson ($1.7m)
Afflalo ($2.8m)
Chandler ($2.6m)
Gallinari ($3.5m)/Udoh ($3.3m)
Mozgov ($2.6m)/Koufos ($2.2m)
No doubt that is a rebuilt team. But it is a team where only one guy makes over $3.5m; you'd have 9 young interesting players averaging roughly $3m a year. That team would be able to add something in the neighborhood of 2 maxed free agents.
Thoughts? I'm sure some will dislike it, I'm just curious if that is because:
a) you aren't ready to burn it down and rebuild. I get that; it is a difficult decision to make
or
b) you are ready to burn it down, but think you could do better
Thanks in advance. Sorry to see you guys caught up in the drama that is modern free agency. I'm finding it pretty distasteful as a fan of the game.

Denver is going to want assets for Nene, they have expirings and a huge TPE, no need to keep dumping talent.

That's also a pretty fair approach. Cap space is good up to a point, but getting more than you can practically use is pointless, and at some point you should get players instead of expirings. That is where the Warriors start to fall out of the discussion. Best of luck however it turns out...

Nene: I Want To Be A Nugget Forever

The ninth year center attracted plenty of interest around the league at the deadline but Denver has remained adamant that Nene is part of its long term plans in the post Anthony era and according to reports have even started pitching a contract extension to the big man.
Nuggets nation may be able to breathe a sigh of relief, because the Brazilian born star says he has no intention of leaving Denver.
"I want to be a Nugget for now and forever," Nene told HOOPSWORLD." But I know there is a lot of business [to handle], so I can say that today. "
Even though he can exercise an early termination option which would make him one of the most coveted talents in the free agent class of 2012, Nene is extremely happy with the direction the franchise is headed as it gears up for another postseason trip.
"Oh yeah for sure," said Nene reiterating his desire to remain in Denver. "It's totally different right now. Everybody is excited, everybody is happy and everybody is enjoying playing [together]. And after games [now] you feel good. You feel like your mission is done. "
