Carmelo Deal

Post#1 » by Twolfboy21 » Thu Feb 17, 2011 5:06 am

You know all these teams that want to trade for Carmelo want something in writing or said that he will resign with them and they will give him a 3 year 65 million deal. Whats the difference between that and what the Wolves did with Joe Smith?

McHale basically wanted more flexibility, so he signed JS to a contract less than he was really worth (below market value) and assured him they told him they would reward him in the future with a large contract for his cooperation.

I don't really know what players, GMs, and owners are allowed to say. They seem to be fined a lot, so maybe they don't either. Either way, McHale blatantly broke the rules with an under the table agreement and Stern made an example of us.
