OT - Grammy Road Jerseys

Post#1 » by VanExeleNT » Thu Feb 17, 2011 9:02 pm

The Yellow Jerseys the Lakers have been wearing lately, agaisnt the Celtics, Magic....are kind of like a hybrid between the old jerseys and new ones. they aren't exactly throwbacks but aren't the ones they wear on the regular.

Anyone know exactly what jersey it is and where i can buy it from??!!! thanks!

They are the '71-'72 Hardwood Classics throwback jerseys.

Like you said, the ones they wore are a hybrid of the new and old jerseys, new being the new material that the jerseys are made of now, and old being the throwback design of the entire jersey.

As far as I know, Adidas has only made the Kobe and Gasol, which can be found online at the NBAStore. I just checked the site and they only have the Gasol listed, but a couple days ago they had the Kobe listed as well.

They are the Adidas Walter Brown HWC swingman jersey. It's a swingman jersey so it is not made with the same new material that the authentic jerseys have.

Yup those are it, i went on nbastore.com didn't see it. I guess i was looking for #24 lol.

Thanks alot for your help! hopefully i can find it somewhere, really like the look for summatime. I have an old vanexel one (my avatar) from when i was a kid, but i still think this one has a little different font and trim as well as the material being different.

Thanks!!

No problem man.

Yeah these swingman jerseys are definitely made of a different material compared to the jerseys that Champion made back in the 90's (I've still got my Van Exel and #25 Eddie Jones jerseys for comparisons to these new jerseys).

The NBAStore will probably have that Kobe throwback back up in a couple days, but there's no telling exactly when. If you can't wait and really want to get the Kobe without having to wait for NBAStore, this website called StadiumStyle has it on their website. I bought my Michael Cooper throwback jersey from their site when NBAStore didn't have my size in stock so in my opinion that site is legit even though it might not look like it lol.

Here's the link to the Kobe throwback on StadiumStyle...

Thanks again.

In the link you sent me the jersey is pretty much the same but its probably the lighting but it seems like a darker yellow. (normal laker yellow) the ones they have been wearing the walter brown ones you have pointed out are somewhat of a lighter yellow:

maybe its all in my head. but the stadium style ones don't say walter brown in the description and do seem like the normal or darker yellow.....lol i need the walter brown throwback old skool new skool hybrid whatever you wanna call em...gonna have to wait for nbastore i guess.

thanks for all ur help!

Yeah it's actually just the lighting and color of the picture that makes the jersey look darker than it really it. It was the same with the Cooper jersey that I bought and it was the same shade as my other throwback jerseys of Johnson and Rambis.

Even though it doesn't say Walter Brown in the description, it's the same jersey as the Walter Brown on NBAStore. If you look at the jock tags at the lower corner of the jersey, it's the same. And like I said earlier, Walter Brown in the description or not, it's still the same swingman jersey so therefore it's not going to be made of the same material that the players wear lol.

But either way, good luck! I'm sure the NBAStore will have the Kobe listed again sometime soon. :D

On this kind of topic, is there a place I can buy a legit van exel jersey? He was my favorite Laker when I was young.

Unless Adidas produces a Hardwood Classics jersey for him sometime in the future, your best bet would be the Champion-brand Van Exel jersey from the 90's, which would only be found being sold either on eBay or Craigslist. OR, unless someone managed to get their hands on an authentic game-worn jersey then that could be an option also.

I have seen a couple Van Exel jerseys on eBay and Craigslist over the years, some pretty beat from use and some still in excellent condition, so just keep searching on either of those two sites and you should be able to find one.
