Are the NY Knicks the scariest team in NBA?

Post#1 » by koogiking » Thu Mar 3, 2011 5:31 pm

I don't mean the best, I mean the scariest. The NY Knicks have a team with enough talent to really scare the Celtics, Bulls, and Miami Heat in the playoffs, even though the knicks are 6th seed currently. It would be a complete pain to face the NY Knicks in the first round.

If you had to choose who to face between the pacers and the knicks it would definitely be the pacers. The race for first seed in the east is extremely tight and 1 game can become the difference between going against Carmelo Anthony/Amare/Billups, and going against Danny Granger. The Knicks might just wind up ruining someones playoff run.

The fact that the knicks have only been together for like a week and they still beat the heat, blew out the hornets and almost beat the Magic(without a real center which is even more amazing) is really something.

The Nuggets also seem like a team that can really annoy someone in the first round too

I think so. Say what you want about Melo and Amare, but they do have confidence. They'd go into a series with the top 3 truly believing they're the two best guys and are going to rip up the series. Add in a VERY pumped up Knicks crowd and it could get interesting.

I think West teams would be scared of Memphis too.

I don't know about fans of other teams, but of all the other contenders in the East, I would LOVE for the Spurs to play the Knicks in the Finals so we could mop the floor with them.

They need, like you said, a real center and to fill out their roster because they gave up so much for Melo. I think they can give some teams in the East a run for their money but they won't make it to the Finals and even if they do they'll get stomped. Next year, once they get some pieces, that's a different story. They will be a contender for years to come, though.

I honestly think that the Magic should be the only team worried about the knicks. Maybe Chicago but I think the Bulls would beats them in 6. Celtics would beat them in 5 and so would the Heat.

The only thing stopping the Knicks is a defensive minded Center and a legit 6th man. Ronny turiaf and Toney Douglas aren't gonna cut in these roles come playoffs.

Scary to the top teams and an opurtunity to the lower end teams (to get a boost of confidence by getting a win).

The team is still gelling. The offense needs to come together better than it has, and they need to find some way of playing defense. Watch the cavs game and you didnt see any. watch some of the games after that and it was much improved. If the Knicks find that right balance of players and defensive motivation than can be one real scary team for the top three teams in the east come playoff time.

I think that the Orlando Magic have the biggest advantage against the knicks if anything just because of Dwight.

The easiest team for the knicks to beat to get out of the first round is the Hawks imo.

They are currently the 6th seed and set to face off against the Bulls int he first round. It's unlikely they will surpass Atlanta or Orlando for the 5th seed, and I doubt Philly or Indiana pushes them out of the 6th spot.

Miami and Boston have nothing to fear unless one of them for whatever reason falls to the 3rd seed.

Portland for me. They have enough talent now with Wallace to scare any of the top teams, especially if Roy stays healthy.

I think they have potential to knock out both the heat and boston. I think they will have the most trouble with the lakers because of their size. So they have potential but I dont think they;; get past the second round this year.

If the Knicks make the Finals and play the Spurs, I GUARANTEE they beat them. You're "real" center is 6'7.

Nobody is scared of the Knicks.

They have too many holes and are too bad on defense to be a legitimate threat. Sure, any team can pull an upset, but I don't see the Knicks as more dangerous than any random 6th seed.

They're better than anyone in the East besides the Celtics so I'd say yes

I mean, I'd prefer not to play them in round 1. I don't doubt that we'd beat them in a series and move on... but we would have to work harder and expend more energy than I care for in round 1 of the playoffs...
