Get Iguodola in the Offseason

Post#1 » by Clip34life » Thu Mar 10, 2011 1:51 am

He is the perfect compliment to this team.

Kaman+Aminu for Iguodola. Iguodola is a lockdown defender who is averaging 7.8 asst/2 TOs in the last month or so. Then can move Gordon to the PG position and run the ball through Iggy at SG. Two lockdown defenders in the backcourt with one being able to slash and pass and the other able to drill it from deep. It would the most balanced backcourt in the league. Then move Mo Williams to the bench in a J-Terry super sub situation to provide a scoring spark. Re-sign Deandre in the offseason for 6 mil/yr and bring in a jack of all trades type at the SF position, perhaps Jeff Green, Tayshaun Prince or Wilson Chandler or something like that. New lineup.

PG: Gordon/Mo Williams/Bledsoe
SG: Iggy/Foye/Warren
SF: Green/Gomes/Moon
PF: Griffin/Smith/Kurt Thomas
C: Deandre/Earl Barron

Holy Crap, I so like what you are talking about. I have been hoping for an Iggy trade the last 14 months.
I really think Iggy would fit well w/ the Clips than most teams.

I wouldn't mind making the trade, but the 6ers are playing well again. Do they want to give up Iggy now?
I've been an LA Clipper fan since 1998 and that will never change. I hate our new logo and jerseys!

I wouldn't mind that trade as well, but I also have my doubts.

I think first Kaman needs to stay healthy and play well the rest of the season.
They then might be interested again, like they were rumored to be at the start of the season, when a Kaman for Iggy swap nearly went down, if those rumors from back then are true.

Still, I don't view Iggy as an ideal compliment to Gordon and Griffin, as he's not able to stretch the defense thanks to his lack of outside shooting.
On the other hand, a lineup of Jordan, Griffin, Igoudala, Gordon and Williams would be pretty solid defensively IMO.

No matter what, our offseason should be pretty interesting, starting right after the season and with the draft probably generating quite some rumors thanks to Kaman rumored to be on the block and us looking for an upgrade at the small forward position.

Sixers would be wise not to trade him. He looks like an athletic poor mans Magic Johnson.

From my understanding, Philly would have given him up earlier in the season if the recipient also took on Brand and his contract. They didn't really want to give up Iggy alone unless an offer blew them away. Now that they are rolling, there's not much incentive to move Iggy. I wanted us to get Iggy for a little over a year, but I think that Philly is even less likely to make a move now.

He fits in with the idea of having a young and uptempo team and would give us some of the best perimeter defense in the league. He can't spread the floor all that well, but neither can Aminu right now and Gomes is only slightly better than Iguoadala from deep. He's not the best complement to what we already have, but he'd definitely be an upgrade.

I'm content with keeping Kaman right now if they lose DeAndre Jordan to Free Agency. I'm liking the way the team is playing right now and it's becoming a good night. I would try to sign someone like Jeff Green with our cap-space to really get this team going.

PG - M. Williams/E. Bledsoe
SG - E. Gordon/R. Foye
SF - J. Green/A. Aminu
PF - B. Griffin/R. Gomes
C - D. Jordan/C. Kaman

That would be an extremely solid roster.

I'm not so sure if the Clips should fit in Jeff Green as the starting SF. Main reason being he has the game of a PF meaning he can shoot midrange jumpers, but is a liability on speading out the offense plus not being n efficient one on one defender. If the Clips want to sign a quality SF to better the squad, then Tayshaun Prince is the way to go.

This team seems unbalanced could use a pick me up and some added pieces.

What are Chandler's strengths? I feel like Prince would be a good sign but only if we could get him on a relatively short-term contract given his age (four years, frontloaded).
