If aquired Gilbert offered to buy out Rip's contract. Thats alot of money to aquire another 1st round pick. ( I like the idea ) I have another thought that I was wondering if the Cav's may try to do. Offer Greg Oden a contrat that Portland won't match. How much would it take? Overload on the front end. ( 1st yr 12 m, 2nd yr 10m, 3rd & 4th 8m ) This is a HIGH RISK-----HIGH REWARD move. With this plan they don't push him at all the 1st year. Let him get heathy is the plan. 1 more year of high draft pick, & with expiring add more picks. (at least 1 more 1st ) Then for the 2012-13 season we have at least 4 players that were high 1st round picks,a heathy Oden, Andy, JJ, Eyenga, Sessions plus others. I know this is a big risk but I believe its the type BIG DAN would take. With those high picks, few players we have now & a heathy Olden we could be a very good team. Do you think it would be worth the risk? I believe Olden can come back from his injuries. ( I know its not the same but big Z was injured alot early in his career ) What do you think?

That's a bit too risky IMO. But then, I can only go by his past history. Someone would have to look at his health and likelihood of getting injured again.

they can't offer Oden a contract like that even if they wanted to. The cavs are over the cap. Because of the pending lockout, we can't even use our trade exception to do a sign and trade for Oden as the exception will expire during a lockout (unless the new CBA provides an extension).

The TPE from LeQuitter is taking up a large portion of our cap.

Yeah, the Cavs are only theoretically over the cap. It only becomes actual if they use that trade exemption.
