Rose vs. Williams
Once again D. Rose shows up D Will Deron goes 1-12 tonight he did dish out 11 dimes but I think we all know who the real true best point guard of the NBA is and the is Rose he has shown that by taking his team on his back and WOW look at what they are doing!!

Re: Rose vs. Williams
It's a little unfair to read too much in to two Williams-Rose matchups where Deron was at way less than 100%, but still, you've got to hand it to Rose; he's absolutely owned Deron this year. Even with Deron hurt, that says a lot about how much Rose's defense has improved this year. With the way he's playing and the way he has the Bulls playing, I think you'd have to give him the nod as the league's best PG right now, though one could certainly make the argument that it depends on what you need/want from your point guard (i.e., do you want a primary scorer or a true point guard?).

Re: Rose vs. Williams
Rose gives you everything you could want what is missing from his game?
He is quick as a cat (just like CP3)
Big Body (just like DWill)
Great Leader (just like Billups)
The best defender (just like Paul, Rondo, Parker)
He can pass like any of the good one as well
Hes got the Kobe IT factor but in a PG body which Williams didnt have. I know hes not as deadly as Kobe but you know what I mean.

Re: Rose vs. Williams
It's true that Rose doesn't have any clear weaknesses, but, as much as he's improved as a playmaker this year, I think you'd have to be crazy to put him on the same level as Paul, Nash, Rondo or Deron in terms of his ability to run a team. People were really starting to get on Deron this season about not being a pure PG, but he's far more pure and less scoring minded than Rose. Rose is by absolutely no means a bad passer or selfish player, but he's not an elite passer (look at assists per game, assist to turnover ratio, etc.).
As I said in my other post, I do think Rose is the best point guard in the league. I also think, however, that there are areas where other elite point guards are pretty clearly better than him.

Re: Rose vs. Williams
Rose is the better player and all, but Williams went 1/12 cause of his injured wrist not cause of Rose.

Re: Rose vs. Williams
Listen I hate coach killer but from just a basketball standpoint I'd give him the nod over Rose right now, when healthy. Coach killer is one of the most clutch players in this league, and that's probably one of the worst things that we lost when he was traded. Luckily, AL, CJ, and Devin have stepped up late in games.
I would expect big things from Rose in the clutch during the playoffs. When I see it, I'll probably rank him ahead of Deron.
Right now, Rose is more of a scorer than Deron while Deron wants to get assists. Coach killer has had slow starts to several seasons otherwise he would have had multiple 11 APG seasons. I like coach killer's durability also. If Rose gets hurt, could he slow down like CP3?
Right now though, Rose is definitely the MVP. If LeBron was still on the Cavs instead of being a pussy he'd probably on his way to a third straight MVP.

I really don't know. You put a healthy Deron on that Bulls team, I don't think they're any worse. He's a better distributor and just as good a defender. The Bulls are a complete team. They have everything they need from every position. Thib is the main guy responsible for their cohesion and amazing defense, not Rose. Rose is absolutely elite in my mind, but you have to wonder how much that team's success is really on Thib. Coach of the year, as far as I'm concerned.

I'll even say he's the best player in the league this year, and so much future ahead of him. I really never thought he'd be this good.

I'm sorry, but what exactly did I say to incite the "Are you kidding me? WOW" statement? I didn't say that I think Rose is the best point guard in the league in one of my posts, but in BOTH of them. So, yeah, I think that should answer your question (especially considering Rose's age, he's definitely the guy I'd take).

Re: Rose vs. Williams
The biggest criticism I've heard about Rose's game is that he isn't very efficient with possessions in that he takes lots of shots. That said, there is no doubt he is a great PG and has been better than D-Will in the head-to-head matchups this season.

I'll call Rose the league's best PG this season but Deron Williams would have been the best PG this season if we had not gotten rid of Matthews and Korver for Raja Bell and Gordon Hayward.

Oh please. Have them switch teams while being 100% and Deron would win that match up.

Re: Rose vs. Williams
I take Williams over Rose. He's a better passer, he's clutch, and he steps his game up in the playoffs. Rose could do all that to but **** it I'm still biased.

Re: Rose vs. Williams
I think Rose made the jump this year. He wasn't at that level last year. He is the reason for the Bulls success, not the new guys. Success is fleeting, and who knows who will be the best next year, but this year Rose is a notch above both Willliams and Paul, not to mention Rondo who is sort of in a weird spot as the only member of his right below the very top class. Parker could have been in that class in seasons past, and Nash would have been above it before coming down below Rondo's level.

Oh come on now, it's not like he was chopped liver before. He has been at at least Rondo level since his rookie year. He's progressed in a way you want a young player to progress.

Re: Rose vs. Williams
I think, as much as the physical aspect of his game is impressive, the mental aspect's even better. This is a tough, humble kid with a through-the-rough BB IQ and the heart and desire to do it on the defensive end too (doesn't hurt to have a solid coach to coax that out of him).
I think when it's all said and done, Rose will have had the superior career, but Deron will have had the better assist numbers.
Kid seems loyal as hell too. Can't really blame Bulls fans for their "he's the second coming of Christ"' attitude.

I'm surprised attitude and ego haven't been discussed as factors.

I was sort of trying to get at that with "humble," but to be more explicit: so far, Rose has displayed none of the narcissism or insecurity that are Deron's most entrenched qualities.
