Wrestling's divas

Are you more or less likely to watch a segment when the divas are involved? In general, do you think they bring in more or less viewers to watch the product?

Well back then during the Sunny and Sable days they bought in more ratings and they put asses in the seats. I believe for a long while back in the 98/99 Sable was pretty routinely RAWs highest rated quarter hour.

Nowerdays there are quite a few more women on the show, but quantity isnt better than quality. None of these current divas really stand out like sunny and Sable did and they just dont have the same drawing power.

I dont think they currently impact ratings one way or another IMO

They barely get any time anyway. Some of those girls can actually work, but McMahon isn't about wrestling.

They either have to go all-in in one direction or another. Either go back to the early 2000's with Torrie Wilson, Stacy Kiebler, Dawn Marie, etc. with very racy storylines and monthly bikini/lingerie contests. That will never happen with the shift to PG. So give them 8-10 minutes and feature the people that can actually wrestle, Melina, Beth Phoenix, Natalya, I think Eve and Alicia Fox have potential and I don't think Maryse is bad either so you've got people that can do the job

I'm less likely to watch generally.

Safi pretty much nailed it with his comment. The bikini/lingerie stuff was never really a 'tune-in factor' for me personally, but I know it was a big reason a lot of people watched in the attitude era. Occasionally today you'll get people who - after finding out you like wrestling - will try to find a place to relate and say "yeah the chicks are hot". But those aren't people who are actually going to watch the product on a regular basis, if at all.

If you want woman's wrestling, go to Shimmer. Just like if you want men's wrestling go to RoH or DG. The "McMahon isn't about wrestling" comment applies to the whole roster, really.

The attitude era with Sable/Sunny/Chyna and the 2000's with Torrie/Stacy/Trish/Lita were obviously the best by far. The only person on either show that I see potential in is Kelly Kelly. She's obviously not the best women's wrestler, but she just made that maxim list. WWE should capitalize on that more and they would prob see results.

I think they were somewhat going that route with the Kharma angle. Which could of worked out really good.

I try to avoid blaming things on PG because I think that's a cop-out 95% of the time. But that example and this thread in general are examples of a situation where PG is the reason. The WWE is all about mainstream attention, I don't think Maxim probably the most risque non-nude magazine in America is exactly the thing they're looking for. They won't avoid it, the commentators have put it over the last few weeks before her matches but its not something they'll highlight in the same way they would something more wholesome.

I didn't realize that. Though I will say Austin was at his peak so I have a hard time believing that. It's odd how little success Sable has had outside of wrestling.
