Burks/ klay Thompson at 12

Post#1 » by Narcist » Sat Jun 4, 2011 2:58 pm

The fact of the matter is of all the positions the jazz should address a pure shooting guard is just the most necessary. While this draft is definitely not loaded with two guards there is a good possibility either one of these two players are going to be available with are second first round pick.

Both have good size and potential to give us a good young SG for years to come. If Burks would fall to us at 12 I would be tickled pink..And probably ticked off if we didn't draft the guy.

Klay could come in and start over raja...i believe that and i wouldn't mind seeing it.

Thompson is nowhere near ready to play significant minutes in the NBA. He'll be eaten alive on the defensive end, and will prove much too big of a liability to play for a long, long time. I doubt he'll ever be much of a presence defensively, which would be a major problem for the Jazz. Their schemes rely on excellent rotation from the wings, as they often double inside and leave a man open on the perimeter. The team currently lacks players capable of that type of play, and doesn't need more anemic or unaware defenders.

Burks would be a better option, and his shot will come around. He has the tools to be a strong and active defender, but takes too many chances defensively and can be lazy occasionally. Singleton is the guy I would love to get at twelve. Most importantly, he immediately bolsters our defense and toughness. He won't be any type of offensive facilitator, but we already have that on the wing from Hayward. Singleton has shown an improving outside shot and is a good finisher with excellent athleticism. Personally, I see him becoming exactly what the Jazz need at SF.

If we truly endeavor to contend, we must build a team capable of defending championship caliber players. Lets then ask ourselves: do Klay Thompson, Jordan Hamilton, Alec Burks, Marshon Brooks, or CJ Miles fit into that concept? Can any of them match up physically with Durrant, Kobe, Wade or LeBron? Singleton can.

In any case, I'm finding more intrigue in the 12the pick than the 3rd, as more players are in the conversation. Your mileage may vary.

If both were available, I go burks. He has more tools that succeed in the NBA. You can teach a jumpsuit, you can't teach quickness.

I like Burks over Thompson as well, but I still think Hayward is our 2. I think we have a bigger need at 3, and Singleton might be the guy there

Even with Jeff Hornacek on the coaching staff, I'm not sure Burks will ever learn this:

That is why I propose we bring in walt Frazier as a special assistant. If anyone could pull of a jump suit,it would be this man.

I like it. I can see him pulling off that look as he makes his way on Trax from Sandy to ESA.

I like Thompson over Burks because of his size/length but I like the athleticism of Burks.

I would take Fredette over both of them...just saying

I don't know about you guys, but my dad taught me a jumpsuit, old school style, then he taught me to do work...
