ATL/SAC trade
Hawks fan here; just wanted to get your feedback on a trade idea I have: What do you think of Samuel Dalembert, Omri Casspi, and your first rounder in the 2012 draft for Josh Smith and Marvin Williams?

Re: ATL/SAC trade
I counter with Samuel Dalembert resigned & Omri Casspi for Josh Smith. We don't want Marvin Williams & aren't interested in trading our 2012 1st. We can then put all our money into signing Nene.
Tyreke Evans/Beno Udrih/Isaiah Thomas
Marcus Thornton/Jimmer Fredette
Josh Smith/Francisco Garcia/Donte Greene
DeMarcus Cousins/JaJuan Johnson/Darnell Jackson
Nene/Jason Thompson/Hassan Whiteside

No deal. Josh's value is too high for that trade, he's the only player we're willing to give up that has tremendous trade value, we have to dump Marvin's contract on this trade and we're a team that needs picks. But if your uncomfortable with giving up a 2012 first, maybe one in 2013.

Re: ATL/SAC trade
I hate this idea.
Marvin - moderately negative value, no one would have given him the size extension if Atlanta hadn't and he hasn't lived up to the hype of being #2 overall
Smith - poor fit with Cousins as they both need to be more mature, and putting them together would likely cause at least as many porblems as it solves.
Additionally, if the Kings are going to trade a pick, it makes several times more sense for them to trade this year's #7 than whatever pick they end up with next year.
Also, as I've said several times, for as much as the asking price for Smith would be, I'd much rather pay the little bit more that would get Horford in a Kings uniform.
Another thing worth mentioning, Dalembert is currently a free agent. Sacramento plans to offer him a return contract, but it's not a done deal yet.

Re: ATL/SAC trade
I hate it. I think josh smith is an over rated player. He is a tweener that can't handle playing real defense on a powerforward do to his size, and he can't shoot from outside at all basically making him a flashy player that puts up good numbers but doesn't really account for too many wins.
So no I wouldn't give up those assets for the guy.

horford could be the perfect fit next to cousins, on and off the courtNo chance at that happening. Horford is our most valuable trade piece, we're not going to waste that value on an OK center, getting rid of a bad deal, and a pick (Top 3 protected nonetheless). Deal's off.
Hey man, you came at us with your substandard idea.

I know man, sorry for laughing but I never even mentioned Horford. The reason we want a center is so that we can move Horford to his natural position of power forward. You guys are really underrating Josh, he really figured it out in the second round of the playoffs. You'll be surprised at what Josh does next year.

Re: ATL/SAC trade
First let me say Josh Smith is one hell of a player. However my question is how will he fit in with what the Kings are doing? Also doesnt he have a minor attitude problem? IF so he probably isnt the most ideal vet to play next to Cousins.. just my take on this trade.

I've been on record since Atlanta fans started shopping Smith that I'd much rather pay the little bit extra and get Horford.
Smith does do a lot of different things and many of them well, however he's still far from a complete player.
Additionally, Smith has more question marks as far as issues between the ears, where Horford doesn't.
For what Atlanta would ask for Smith, insisting on Horford and paying the difference makes a lot more sense for Sacramento and I imagine a lot of other teams too.

The problem is that it isn't a little extra, the difference would be much larger than that to go from Smith to Horford. Yeah, Smith has issues with shot selection and in turn had issues with Woodson over said shot selection but he can do a lot of things on the court. He could be our Marion actually. Great defense especially off the ball and we'd have a monster run and gun team. Cousins is a very good passer as well. I have always been a fan of his and think he would fit in nicely here. The guy is like 25 I think so young enough to develop still. Sammy D and a future first for Smith. Sign Nene to play center and that's your core. Nene / DMC / J Smith / Thornton / Evans with a bench of JT / Greene / Casspi / Udrih / Fredette??
