Has Colby Rasmus lived up to your expectations?
Lots of talk about him lately on the radio. The usual suspects like McCown have already called him a bust and would move him at the drop of a hat. Clearly he hasnt been as good as he could be. Hes hitting .195 I believe since he got here but I still think hes a keeper for the future.

Re: Has Colby Rasmus lived up to your expectations?
Of course he hasn't lived up to expectations, but nobody was going to judge him or the trade based on this season. He's still just 24, and came off a season where he had a .860 OPS and 4.3 WAR. That's a top 5 CF in all of baseball.
He's still our CF next season since Gose is at least a year away. If he continues to struggle next season, then we'd have to reevaluate CF.

I had no expectations for him... he was only here for a short time and was hurt half of that time, adjusting to a new team and new league. 2012 will be the year we see what he can do, and I have high hopes.

What Rasmus did for the Jays in August and September 2011 was always going to be meaningless, whether he did good or bad. The Jays got him for 2012-14. That is when my expectations for him will start to kick in.

I have a feeling that Rasmus would be key in a potential Votto deal.

Were these the same critics that were calling Yunel Escobar a bust last September?
It's 32 games, not significant.

He'll have a career year next year. I don't bet but if I did, I'd put my realgm account on it.
Want: Trae Young, Michael Porter Jr., DeAndre Ayton, Jaren Jackson Jr, Marvin Bagley III, Mohamad Bamba, Shai Gilgeous- Alexander, Elie Okobo, Jevon Carter

There were critics of Yunel last September?
My memories of him last year after the trade are actually pretty good. Maybe he wasn't "super" enough to raise his overall season numbers significantly, but he seemed to do okay with us pretty quickly. Huh, I'd better check the numbers...

Escobar had a .696 OPS for the Jays last season.

Colby needs to learn how to swing a bat. Now that he's in the majors he needs to suck it up and accept the fact that his swing is terrible. Hopefully he'll listen to the coaches in the offseason and work hard. There's a lot of untapped potential in this kid. I think we'll know early on next year if he's our guy or not.

Re: Has Colby Rasmus lived up to your expectations?
The only thing I've found from watching him is that he doesn't strike me as the prototypical centerfielder. Usually your CF is the leader of the outfield and there have been a few miscues on who should get the ball. Perhaps I'm reading too much into it, however in terms of at the plate, think he's battled some injury as well so giving him a mulligan.
