Harbaugh's Mistakes

Post#1 » by Sandlot » Fri Oct 14, 2011 5:13 pm

Let me just clarify that I love the job Harbaugh is doing right now. That being said he has made two huge mistakes in my opinion.

1) The Dallas game: Not taking the first down and yards, but keeping the points instead. I don't care what kind of defense and running game you have or want to have that is a bad choice. I know their were points on the board but trust your team to keep driving and trust your kicker to get them back. I don't know if we would have won anyways but I feel like it would have given us a much better chance.

2) The Final Plays of the Bucs Game: I really don't understand going for it on 4th when we are up by 38. I guess he was trying to give CK some reps??? Morgans injury on that play is costly considering our depleted depth already. I think it was risky and just bad sportsmanship. This isn't college so the rankings don't matter. I don't get it and it sucks that we lost Morgan on a worthless play.

P.S. Didn't Morgan get hurt last season when we were losing by a ton and were just trying to get one score?

Other than that I feel like he's been great and the work he's doing with Alex is good. I can't wait to see how CK develops under him.

Today's Crabtree challenge was really bad. But I think that's the guys in our booth's fault. Whoever looked at that replay and thought it was a good idea to challenge that is a (Please Use More Appropriate Word).

The Cardinal rule (no pun intended) is to never take points off your score, so I guess that's what he was thinking. Still in retrospect it was a bad call.

The Morgan thing was just really unlucky. Questionable call.
