I place to discuss Hunting & Fishing worldwide.

Feel free to discuss techniques, equipment, locations, licensees and more.

A good story about the one that got away is always fun too.

I don't hunt here, but I have friends who do and have no problem getting tags. It's harder if you want to get something like black bear or moose, I think there is a lottery for those tags.

Lupus, give me all your best crawfishing spots in the MSP area.

Yeah, it's easy getting deer tags in MN as there are too many deer. Most years they are encouraging people to buy extra tags and they've set up a system where hunters can shoot an extra deer, field dress it, and take it to a participating processor, and then the meat gets donated to the food shelf. As mnWI pointed out, moose tags are a lottery deal. For perspective, annual deer harvest in Minnesota is in the 250,000 to 300,000 range. This year 40 moose were harvested.

Anyone hunt water fowl or upland birds? I also live in MN, and I go Grouse hunting multiple weekends, dunk hunting in ND (long story :)), and deer hunting, along with pheasant (but we don't have a consistent place to go, so we usually stick to deer/duck/grouse).

I will be going deer hunting next weekend, a friend of mine has a cabin near Lake Mille Lacs, and so far they've gotten 3 deer on opener :D
