Tim Tebow?
I'm curious, what are you guys opinion of Tim Tebow?
In my opinion, he's like Big Ben with worse mechanics. Not conventional AT ALL. He's not a pocket passer, has terrible mechanics and has happy feet in the pocket. However, he just makes plays when they need it, and every game he plays is close. When he plays in the shotgun his play is REMARKABLY different than when he is under center. And, even though it sounds corny, dude inspires people man. His teammates play their ass off for him and dude is a leader.
So I'm curious to know, what are your opinions of Tebow?

Re: Tim Tebow?
Hes not going to be a successful QB in a traditional role. If hes going to be good he needs to be in the shotgun throwing downfield and running it when theres nobody open. Hes also going to need to be a killer red zone QB with his scrambling - which I think he can definitely be.
Otherwise I dont see him being anything better than very bad. His accuracy and pocket awareness are horrible. You can't let him run the same system you would a normal quarterback because hes not good enough. Let him use his very bizarre strengths and maybe he can succeed.

Re: Tim Tebow?
I agree with Murdock, I honestly think he will be pretty terrible. His game is very limited and defenses will be able to game plan to stop him easily. I think teams will just put a spy on him and force him to throw the ball down field, which he cant do with any consistency.

Let's just say, I think John Elway wants the team to be successful, but with Andrew Luck as QB. If Tim Tebow wins a few games for Denver it won't mean he's going to be a fixture on the team. I expect him to eventually be traded.

Re: Tim Tebow?
If you actually watched the game on Sunday, you could see that Tebow got bailed out by some terrific catches from his receivers on those final two drives. Like Murdock said, he has absolutely awful pocket awareness and cannot read a defense for his life, which was also the case in college.
He hardly beat an 0-5 team and needed OT to pull it off. Granted, he did nothing in OT because even John Fox knew that letting Tebow try to win it himself would have ended horribly.
If he knew how to take care of himself, Tebow would have become an H-back as soon as he hit camp.

Re: Tim Tebow?
Murdock hit the nail on the head. As a traditional quarterback, tebow will never develop into one and will not last in the league. Horrible mechanics and footwork for a quarterback and the accuracy and awareness is not there. I know NFL teams have gone away from this but we have seen some hints of it in the past and that's the wild cat offense. You build your defense and your running game. You give a tebow a vanilla offense, simple throws and simple reads and let him create on his feet. Its not the recipe for a championship but you might get some wins for a while... temporary solution til you find a real quarterback.

Re: Tim Tebow?
Tebow and Vince are like the angel on the left shoulder and satan on the right shoulder of bad QBs who can run
I agree with Kal El that his future role is basically what Brad Smith does with the Bills, you bring him once in a while to play the wildcat and keep the other team guessing

Re: Tim Tebow?
Go to 3:40 in this video for a perfect example of Tim Tebows miserable pocket presence.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=h-fJv0mZ ... re=related
He actually turns backwards and stares behind him on the last play of the game to see where the defensive end is instead of looking down field and trying to find an open man.
I've never in my life seen a quarterback turn 180 degrees to check for pressure.

I think it's in the best interest of the board if Tim Tebow gets a thread that's dedicated to him. All related topics can be merged here. HMFFL

LOL might be the best gold found on the interwebs, ever.
Read through the entire thing. Effing hilarious. I know it's long but just read it. ^^
Tebow: okay. that seems to be all our questions on pocket awareness. Next up is best way to read the coverage in order to find the open man downfield.
Campbell: Brett already explained that. When you see a guy downfield. You just sling that b*tch.
Grossman: Damn Straight Jason. When you see the man down field Tim. Just unleash the Dragon.
Lebron: Hey guys, I just stopped by to ask if you think I should come to the NFL since the NBA is in lockout. Do you think I could make an impact?
Ben: I'd make an impact. on your mom.
Lebron: "The hell did you say?
Ben: Just kidding. lol
Tebow: But how am I supposed to remember where everyone is at all times?
John Fox: Tim my playbook is only 3 pages long, it's not that hard. Just look for Lloyd and Decker or something.
Lloyd: You traded me brah.
Tebow: Okay okay I think I get it. But what about when they blitz?
John Fox: They do that every down, Tim.
Cutler: I always get blitzed, just stay there and take the sack. Who cares?
Tebow: But I want to convert the first d-
Cutler: I don't care. Have you ever seen my face look like it cares? It hasn't. I can't do it. Go ask Rex how to avoid blitzes or something.
Tebow: Uh...Rex? How do you see blitzers before they get there?
Grossman: I CAN'T SEE **** CAPTAIN
Vick: Just run around forever doe! Just make sure you don't get sacked in the endzone!

Tim Tebow Degrades the QB position
Magic Johnson revolutionized the PG position like Tim Tebow is degrading the QB position. When you saw Magic you saw a 6"9 PF playing PG better than every 6"0 tall PG that was the prototype at the time. So, he changed the prototype and people started looking for bigger PG's that had the same skillset as the traditionally smaller guards, but there was never a reduction in expectation of desired skills.
On the other hand, Tebow and everything he does is about praising Tim Tebow the person. When you see him play football you know that the QB position is being degraded because it is a total reduction in the expectation of skills. He does not have QB skills thus it is all about the person. He is degrading the position to the point and reducing what is expected of a QB from now on out if they continue with this mess.
Shame on the NFL for trying to sell you Tebow at the expense of degrading the position and other real QB's.

Tbow is really degrading the NFL and showing its true colors like thousands of H Backs could have done this but they let him do it because it is about selling you him and nothing else

Well if a thousand half backs could do what he's doing then maybe more teams should be starting them at QB. PLAYOFFS BABY!
